Started at $33, added zones and upped to $35 and $37 before hitting it at $41. Hotwire is quoting $49/night for what's presumably the same place/same nights (only Hotwire 4* in Downtown), and the Golden Nugget's website was offering nightly rates of $39, $59 and $59 for the same.

Very happy with this for a last minute (early) Super Bowl weekend.

Thanks to all for their continued help on this site. I did use the board's links to PRICELINE when I made the bid.

Now to get ready for the trip...!

did you know that there is free valet parking at all major hotels and casinos in Las Vegas: it's the best secret in the world. Why walk yourself to death or go broke on cabs: take your own car! Tip 3-4 when you pick up only.

Follow-up on this booking....used the $20 trick, was handed back my money ("we can't accept gratuities directly"), then was booked into a new room (without additional charge) in the Rush Tower. Phenomenal room, truly a bit of high-end strip luxury downtown. I followed the desk agent's cryptic instructions ("no, we can't accept a tip directly...but if after you get to your room, you bring this survey folder down and fill it out and hand it to me directly, it would be GREATLY appreciated") for the well-earned tip.

I could never figure out why the Nugget would consistently get 4*'s, with the somewhat old-fashioned (even dowdy) rooms in the Carson Tower...now I know. Rush Tower is an altogether different experience.

Good luck to all!
