Suburbanite05 Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 We stayed for a January Saturday night with our 2 young kids (5 & 8) as a getaway. Check in was smooth. Booked a standard 2 queen bedroom and the clerk upgraded me to a 2 queen suite for free, without me asking, which is basically a 2 queen bedroom with a little extra space for a love-seat size sofa/twin sleeper. The hotel does have an indoor pool but there is NO hot tub. There is also a treadmill and eliptical in a separate room next to the pool. The pool water was just about right - was comfortable. We used the pool twice. The chlorine did bother my eyes, however. The room - standard queen size beds, beds were comfortable, clean, everything worked, large screen tv was nice, bathroom was clean, heat worked and the thermostat was adjustable, the sofa was nice/extra room for our stuff - but we only stayed one night so it was not really needed. In room microwave, coffee maker and small refridgerator. Hotel is next to highway and our room faced the rear parking lot - was quiet at night. We parked overnight in the front lot facing the main entrance and had no issues.Breakfast was usual HIExpress stuff. Between their hot and continental offerings, I'm sure one can find something to eat. No complaints about the quality of the food, just don't expect it to be a 5 star experience.Location - Just off the main interstate 196, about 2-3 minute drive to downtown South Haven and 20 mins or so to St. Joseph or Saugatuck. If you make a right from the hotel which is Phoenix Rd, it will take you right through downtown South Haven.Likes-Location, breakfast included, indoor pool, all hotel staff were friendlyDislikes-No hot tub in the pool area.I booked it from the Support/Travel Links page
