Looking to get a 4 or 3.5 star hotel in NYC(Times Square-Theatre District).

Tried many bids with rebid zones

$110

$115

$125

$135

Also tried with MTW and no luck.

Anyone with any suggestion or am I just bidding too low?

How about 3 stars in this area, what kind of bids should I be placing?

As i'm sure you're aware, Valentine's Day is on Sunday this year, so many people will be celebrating on this Saturday nite... thus the higher rates for these dates. Many hotels will likely be able to sell the majority of their rooms on their own, as well as will keep more rooms than usual onhand (before discounting them) for any walk-in business, so there is little reason to give them to the opaque providers, PRICELINE and HOTWIRE, at too deep of a discount.

Are these the only two zones you're willing to accept? What is your maximum bid for this stay?

Yes I am aware that it is Valentine's Day, as we are celebrating it there as well.

I am pretty much set on the 2 zones since we have show tickets for a night show at the Lion King and it would be great to just walk back to the hotel.

How about 3 star hotels in the 2 zones, what price should I be shooting for?

We are just planning to stay there one night, my max would be $200 bid

Would you want to try bidding for a 4* or 3.5* up to $200 first... or do you want to lower your star rating to 3* now?

I understand the convenience of walking back to the hotel after the show, but also think about (for example) paying $50 more for a hotel room in one of these two zones, when you otherwise could just hop in a cab after the theatre and for $10-$15 be back to your hotel in another nearby zone (net savings: $35 and potentially a higher rated hotel)

It's your stay and you know your needs/budget better than i do, but NYC is one of those places where you can make just about anyplace within the 'central area' work for your plans without too much inconvenience.

4* TimeSquare MTW 2/13-2/14

$200 Bid accepted

The Algonquin Hotel

I guess it is the best I can do for this particular weekend.

Was reading the reviews of this hotel. Basically close to everything, very central, the rooms are a bit on the small side compared to other hotels.

Congratulations on your success! :)

Very nice deal for this property for the holiday. This is quite a historic property (see "Dorothy Parker and the Algonquin Round Table") and actually has its own cat.

Thank you for sharing your win with the board and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your travel purchases and searches.

Enjoy your stay.
