BBG Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Going to be in NYC in March, and we want something in the Times Square zone. I've looked at the hotel list on the relevant forum, and all the 3*+ seem acceptable (we're more concerned with location than super fancy accommodations). Any idea on what I should be bidding? As an addition, I should mention that I already have a reservation (no charge if canceled 24hrs in advance) at the Comfort Inn Midtown, so I have a back-up plan if bidding doesn't work. I'd be paying $186/night (taxes in), so I don't see much point chasing rooms on Priceline if I can't get at least $30-40/night less than that (it's a great location and does extremely well on tripadvisor). Thoughts from Those In The Know are greatly appreciated.
Double_Downon11 Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 I would highly recommend extending your search to Midtown East and Central because it is pretty close to Times Square and gives you more options. We stayed in MTE in the Fall and it worked out great for location to Times Square, Central Park etc.I just did a quick check on HOTWIRE and it appears you can get a 3.5* Hotel in the Midtown Central area for $139 USD per night plus tax. I would suggest seeing if someone can help you identify that particular hotel as it doesn't match anything on the list directly. Given that price you are likely to find something in the same area on PRICELINE for even cheaper. Avoiding that Saturday night stay definitely helps.Good luck!
