Double_Downon11 Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Booked one night at this hotel on Priceline using the Betterbidding link for a quick shopping trip. We knew it was going to be the Millennium and despite the horrible reviews decided to go for low cost and location to the Galleria. I've warned my wife that this may turn out to be a disaster but at least we know to avoid floors 1 and 3 in the hotel. If anyone else has any particular floor recommendations, it would be appreciated.Thanks.
BBG Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 It's not that bad. I did the same thing (overnight shopping trip). The decor is dated and there kids running around in the corridors, but not too late. It is very close the the Galleria, which was fantastic
Double_Downon11 Posted January 28, 2010 Author Report Posted January 28, 2010 I've stayed there once by myself and it wasn't horrible but with my wife I am a little leery. You are right though you can't beat the location and so many good restaurant choices within walking distance eliminates any after dinner driving. Can you remember what floor you stayed on? Looks like they say to avoid floors 1 and 3.Thanks!
BBG Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 It was on the 1st floor, which is why I guess the kids were running around (near the pool). We had an outside room, so there was no view of the atrium. OTOH, we were able to park right outside our room.Your mention of restaurants has me thinking about the Cheesecake Factory, damn you! Now I'm hungry!
Double_Downon11 Posted January 28, 2010 Author Report Posted January 28, 2010 Okay thanks for the additional info. Cheesecake Factory is great but we love PF Changs which also opened right next door back in the Fall and another good place if you like Fondue is the Melting Pot.
Double_Downon11 Posted January 31, 2010 Author Report Posted January 31, 2010 Just a quick review about our stay at the Millennium in Buffalo. As mentioned previously, I have stayed the Millennium once before and because it was just me, I wasn't that dissatisfied by my accommodations but the outdated room definitely made me question the 3* rating. This time around, I was traveling with my wife so was a little leery when we booked this room through PRICELINE. We made sure to ask for a renovated room which was on the 5th floor and although some of the room (ceiling, cabinets etc) were outdated, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. For the price we paid we couldn't go wrong but I would strongly suggest asking for a newer room upon arrival to increase your chances of a better stay. We ate at the nearby Melting Pot and it was delicious as always!
