zdazzle Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Hi All,I'm planning to stay in the Orlando, FL region from March 24-March 31, 2010.I'm booking 3 rooms, with 5 adults. The rate I got for a Universal Orlando I-Drive North Area is $49.The amenities include:Fitness CenterPoolBusiness CenterHigh-Speed Internet AccessThe Customer Reviews are 90% recommended with 200+ reviewsI believe it is most likely the Hyatt Place. I am really hoping that this is the case (no particular reason, just looks nicer). However, I also notice it could be the Four Points Studio City.Any input? Thank you very much.
zdazzle Posted January 27, 2010 Author Report Posted January 27, 2010 I noticed the same info in the following threadHotwire OrlandoBut it seems as though I'm getting different amenities...
thereuare Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! The thread you linked to above is for a different hotel as the amenities don't match the one you're being offered above. The 3* property above has not yet been identified. However, i'll point your direction to the 4* hotel offered in this zone for $59/nite with Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry and a Tripadvisor rating of 4.5/5.0.For just $10 more per nite you get a full jump in star rating and a hotel with 'known' good reviews based upon the 4.5/5.0 tripadvisor user review rating. I'm guessing this property is the Crowne Plaza Universal, upgraded to the 4* level from the previously reported 3.5* level, but even if not, it has the high TA user review rating so there is some comfort in that it is a 'good' one.Would this HOTWIRE offer work for your needs? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too! zdazzle Posted January 28, 2010 Author Report Posted January 28, 2010 Actually, 5 out of our 8 day stay will go in helping out at a family wedding and we won't be able to do that much. Thus, we figured a reputable 3* would do. It would also help us in saving about $300 for the week stay.Would you have any guesses as to what the hotel could be?
dicedeeler Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 I don't have an answer for you, but I have stayed in both the Four Points and the Hyatt Place. The rooms at the Hyatt Place were larger, but the view from the Four Points is fantastic. I think you would be pleased with either hotel. The service at both was excellant and I would stay again at either one. Enjoy the wedding!
thereuare Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Most 3* hotels in this area offer the amenities above so i don't really have any insight as to which hotel this may be.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. zdazzle Posted January 28, 2010 Author Report Posted January 28, 2010 It actually turned out to be the Wingate by Wyndham.I've checked Hotels.com, tripadvisor.com, and Expedia and they all rate the hotel as 2.5*.I see that the hotel offers quite a lot of amenities but since I was paying a bit higher ($49). I expected a bit more. I've contacted Hotwire of this discrepancy and they said they would forward this to their research department. Lastly, what do you think my options are? I was thinking it would be a 3* but it doesn't seem that way...
yellowdog Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 zdazzleThank you for sharing your result with the board! Also thanx for the addition for this new property to the BetterBidding Hotwire Hotel ListIt's hard to speculate about HOTWIRE's answer. This is a new hotel for the board and i don't know much about it. But HOTWIRE rate the hotels diffrent than Expedia, Hotels.com.But please keep the board updated in this case. thereuare Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 This is the Wingate Inn at 5661 Windhover Drive? If so, I wouldn't expect HOTWIRE to do much about this as both Orbitz and Travelocity both rate this property 3*.The reviews of this hotel are actually very good... do you think you're really just disappointed it wasn't the Hyatt Place you were hoping for? zdazzle Posted January 29, 2010 Author Report Posted January 29, 2010 After letting it settle for a day, I believe it was just disappointment from what I had expected. On the contrary, I think it'll be a quiet stay with plenty of amenities. I'm a bit weary of the reviews about the service since they claim to be so-so. I've called ahead and requested double beds and the front desk receptionist noted it on the account but also stated he couldn't guarantee that. Do I just have to keep my fingers crossed or is there something I can do?
