Priceline Hotel: Any hints on bidding on a 4 or 5* on strip south?

We are staying in LAS 4/14-4/16. We will need 2 rooms. We would be happy at pretty much any of the 4*'s except we are trying to avoid the Luxor. I am assuming the Luxor is more likely to pick up my bid since it is one of the cheaper 4*'s. Any advise on how to avoid the luxor. I am also considering 5* bidding as well. Any help would be appreciated.

We don't see Luxor that much reported but the chance is always there. If you want to avoid it so only bid 5* or don't bid in the South zone. You can also go with HOTWIRE.

If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.

If you would like to get help with a bidding strategy so please post your budget/night, zone(s) you're willing to stay in and the rating for the hotel.

If you bid on a 5* south, what are the more common wins as far as which hotel picks up the bids.

The list of reported PRICELINE wins for the state of Nevada is available at Betterbidding's Priceline Hotel List for Nevada. The only known 5* in the South Strip area is TheHotel at Mandalay Bay, which comes up not very often. Otherwise, as mentioned, one cannot avoid a particular property when bidding, and HOTWIRE may be a good option to consider.
