Welcome to BetterBidding!

In NYC, whenever possible, i would recommend keeping your minimum star rating at 3*... there may be some lower rated properties which you're comfortable with, but there may be some that you're not, and with PRICELINE / HOTWIRE you don't have the ability to choose which type you will get.

Generally speaking MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, ESB, and MSG-Convention Center, and Chelsea all work well for the average visitor. Once caveat is that in the MTE zone likes a few porperties, the Millenium UN, and to a lesser extent, the Tudor Hotel, which are a bit far east for some people's liking... the Millenium UN is about a 15 minute walk to the subway. This is a 3.5* rated hotel on PRICELINE, and even though you'll be bidding for a star rating less than that, the star rating you choose is the minimum that you're willing to accept... so you could always be upgraded to a higher rated hotel.

I'd start by looking at the zone(s) above on a PRICELINE map and see if you're comfortable receiving a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of each zone. Then let us know which zone(s) you're willing to accept and what you would like to use as your minimum star rating and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

OK, I will choose 3* and more. Areas to be good: ESB, MSG, MTW, MTE, TS, Chelsea.

P.S. Please, describe in few words, what you mean re-bidding? I already proceed you link in other topic, but re-bidding still not clear for me: for re-bid I need to add areas, where are not 3* hotels (in my case) or I'm wrong?).

It is explained in greater detail at this link: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained.

A good summary of it is this paragraph that is taken from the above link: "Assume city XYZ has an uptown and downtown zone. You bid 4* uptown at $50 and are turned down, and are told you can bid again if you change something. IF downtown ONLY offers 3* Hotels and BELOW, you can add the downtown zone (so you are now bidding on downtown AND uptown) and once again bid for 4*. This will allow you to raise your bid and try again, essentially only bidding uptown, since downtown doesn't have any hotels that fit your star level criteria."

Please do let us know if you have any questions regarding re-bidding after reading the explanation, and please do let us know if you have questions before attempting to bid. Re-bidding may not always be possible, depending on the desired area and star rating.

That's clear, thank you! But when I'm bidding in NYC Manhattan area with 3* - there 3* is everywhere, in each area. In this case I can perform re-bid only when I'm choose 4*. Of course, I'll start my bidding with 4*, but what strategy should be when I'll be rejected?

P.S. Thank you for assistance and sorry for not excellent English :)

I did as you suggest and at first step got The Beekman Tower Hotel for $80 per night. Priceline regular rate is $169. I think it is good deal.

I'm started with your link to PRICELINE.
