travelerlany Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 I just bid $90 for Feb 5-8 (2 rooms) in San Juan.Priceline did not accept the offer, and under their 'can you select additional areaswhere you can stay?' comment, they list an umbrella-icon next to San Juan, and 'Rio Grande - Fajardo - El Yunque'. Below this, they explain that theumbrella icon means 'Resort hotels available in this area.'Does this mean I am completely safe adding another area WITHOUTthe umbrella icon (say Dorado),and again bidding for just 'resorts'?? This seems a little too easy, though I understand that this can work on Priceline IF one is totallyconfident of what hotels are available, or NOT available, in someareas. But risking the city seems much worse than, say, endingup in the wrong neighborhood in Chicago. thanks for any info.-jn
thereuare Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Currently Rio Grande is the only zone (besides San Juan) that contains Resort rated properties, so you can currently add the other zones as re-bid zones when bidding for a Resort property in San Juan. You can learn more about re-bidding and the correct way to determine your re-bid zones (which you should check before each round of bidding) in this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedFeel free to ask any questions you have regarding the above. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. travelerlany Posted January 26, 2010 Author Report Posted January 26, 2010 Thanks for the response. And just to be clear, 'resort' is higher than all the other ratings? So if I am bidding 'resort', I cannot be given a 4-star deluxe instead?thanks again,-jn
thereuare Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 5* hotels are rated higher than Resorts, but in this instance, there are currently no 5* hotels offered in this region. From this Priceline Star Rating Hierarchy thread:5-Star hotelsResorts4-Star hotels3.5-Star hotels Boutique3-Star hotels2.5-Star hotels1-Star hotelsPlease use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
