5travelbugs Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 I am using Priceline to bid on a 4* in Midtown Atlanta for 1 night, 2 rooms, February 13, 2010. According to my calculations, the only 4*s in Midtown are the W Midtown and Palomar. Either of these would be great. I don't want to include dpwntown b/c I really don't want the Indigo. I started 3 days ago at $45, and have gotten all the way up to $125 and have not been accepted. I know that I can go straight through Priceline and get a room at Palomar for $158. What am I doing wrong?I have added, for each $3 to $5 bid, every area in Atlanta except Hartsfield, Perimeter, Downtown, Buckhead and Galleria, since they all have 4*s in them. I don't get it. I thought I was following the guidelines presented here.Am I too early, too late, or not going to get a deal since it's Valetine's weekend, or are the Palomar and W Midtown actually considered Downtown, too? Also, is the Indigo still considered 4 * for Downtown?Or should I use Hotwire? Thanks for any help
5travelbugs Posted January 25, 2010 Author Report Posted January 25, 2010 Got $119 for a 4* in Midtown Atlanta. Amenities included: Fitness Center, Restaurant. Can anyone help me out with which hotel this may be?Thanks!
thereuare Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.I started 3 days ago at $45, and have gotten all the way up to $125 and have not been accepted. I know that I can go straight through Priceline and get a room at Palomar for $158. What am I doing wrong? This is the Saturday nite before Valentine's Day... hotels may believe they can sell most of their rooms themselves at full price, and with 3 weeks to go, don't see any reason to offer rooms at deep discounts to the opaque suppliers at this time. The HOTWIRE hotel above matches previous reports for the Indigo and the Palomar, but HOTWIRE also shows a 4.5/5.0 Tripadvisor rating for this property, which makes it a match for the Palomar so that would be my best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help.
