Richtree7 Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 1. Would like to bid on a hotel in downtown Montreal. For 2 of us..but definitely require 2 beds. I've seen a suggestion here in the forum that we could possibly request a room for 2 adults and a child. Wonder if that would gurantee 2 beds?2. A few weeks ago I stayed in the Days Inn Montreal downtown Centre-ville. The price was about $240.00 for 2 nights with the $18.00 per night parking fee. I thought this particular hotel, while not 4 star served my needs well. Would like to know if this Days Inn participates in Hotwire or Priceline booking?Thank you.
thereuare Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 You can see the hotels reported thru each service in the respective Priceline Hotel list and Hotwire Hotel List. However, even if this property participates with either/both service, you can't bid on a specific hote. As well, note that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, which means you could receive a room with only one bed, and the hotel may be unable, or unwilling, to accomodate your request for a room with two beds. HOTWIRE may still be an option if you search for triple occupancy (try 2adults/1child which often doesn't increase the price vs. 2 adults), as this will ensure separate sleeping accomodations, but the 'second bed' could be a pullout sofabed or rollaway cot brought into the room... not sure if this would work for your needs or not (as well as if you're flexible to stay at a hotel other than the Days Inn)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Richtree7 Posted January 25, 2010 Author Report Posted January 25, 2010 Thereuare, Thanks for your quick reply. It looks like HOTWIRE is the way to go for my situation. I will go with your advice and ask for a room for 2 adults and child. I mentioned Days Inn because when I stayed there a couple of weeks ago it was a reasonable price, even with paying the full regular price. Just thought that maybe it could be available for half that price at Priceline or Hotwire...which I would consider a very good deal. When I make my bid I will definitely use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links here at betterbidding.com. Thank you
thereuare Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Are your plans firm that you're not looking to book this now?Note that there is no bidding on HOTWIRE. See this I've Never Used Priceline or Hotwire thread to see the similarities, and differences, between the two services. Thanks in advance for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links. Richtree7 Posted January 29, 2010 Author Report Posted January 29, 2010 Also requested to reserve the room for 2 adults and 1 child to insure 2 beds would be booked. Hope it works out that way. Also have read the Tripadvisor.com forum for this hotel. Some people have complained about getting less than good service or bottom of the barrell room due to booking at the low Hotwire hotel rate. I am thinking about trying the $20 trick, as suggested in the Las Vegas Tripadvisor forum and also suggested at the FrontDeskTip site. Hopefully the tip may help to get a little better room or service??Amenities as follows;Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access, Spa Services
yellowdog Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Richtree7Thanx for the follow-up :) Can you please confirm that you didn't have any Children's Activites icon among your amenities.Thanx in advance.Yellowdog.
Richtree7 Posted January 31, 2010 Author Report Posted January 31, 2010 The amenities are as I posted above. Unless I missed something or am not reading it correctly. I booked with the request for a child added ...only because I wanted to be more sure of having 2 beds in the room.

Richtree7 Posted February 7, 2010 Author Report Posted February 7, 2010 Just returned from Montreal where I stayed at the Delta Hotel on President Kennedy. Hotel is excellent, no complaints. While checking in, tipped the front desk and was given a nice room with free wi-fi. Also had the breakfast buffet at the hotel Sat. a.m. which was also excellent. Very glad to have stayed at this hotel.
AaronJB Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Glad to hear you had a pleasant stay at this property. :)
sbwayoflife Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 Just a note on the "2 bed" conversation...i have been told by a hotwire hotel before that they will not guarantee 2 beds even if the reservation is for 3 or 4 people. They only guarantee the room type is if I booked directly through them. ...However, I did end up with 2 beds.Headed to Montreal Sat...thinking I might go for the 4 star after reading this.
