Just won this bid Jan 23rd with PRICELINE for $55 a night.

Started bidding up from $50 by a dollar at a time by adding sections that did not have a 3.5* hotel to my area selections of north costal & del mar until I won this. Those sections are closest to LegoLand. :)

Always went back and used the betterbidding PRICELINE link, won this as well as three other bookings for our trip to LA, now just have to win a bid for a cheap car now.

I just wanted to add that we stayed at this hotel last weekend - for 4 nights - and we LOVED it!!!!! The location is perfect as it is RIGHT off the freeway...and just down the road from some great beaches. Also, we used Fox rental car - but did not bid for it...but they seemed the cheapest to us.

I'm not sure if you're still following this, but in case you are...

I'm trying to book two nights at this same hotel on May 15th & 16th. I put in a bid for $55 today but was rejected. Any tips? Do you think it might be too far away from the date?

Also, I heard this hotel charges $14 for parking per day, and $10 for internet. Is that true? Do they have wireless internet, or just a wired T1 in the rooms?

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

I know that there is only on 3.5* hotel in Del Mar, CA and that is the Hilton. On PRICELINE, I selected the Del Mar area and then the 3.5* criteria. I'm fairly certain that I'm bidding on the Hilton, but if for some reason I get another hotel close by that would be fine.

In any event, the question remains: did I start bidding too early? What should my strategy be here? I see that two previous bids of $55 were accepted, but my $55 bid was declined.
