GodOfThunder Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Looking for a 4* in Brussels Center the dates of 3.31.2010 through 4.2.2010. Looking on here, it seemed I could get the Nh Atlanta for $45-$50 per night. So far I've tried $45, $52, $56, $58, $60, $65 and $70 with nothing.I'm getting to the point now where I'm scared to add the Airport because I might get stuck with something over there. Has anyone heard anything about the usual places in Brussels dropping from Priceline? Thanks!
thereuare Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Rates are date specific, and you can't assume that you'll necessarily be able to repliate another users win which is for dates other than your own.Using this Brussels Priceline thread as an example, that user won their hotel for $45 when hotel direct rates were 80EUR. Checking the same hotel for your dates, that hotel is selling for 135EUR... so your dates are higher demand (and therefore higher price) and will therefore require a higher bid to be successful. The dates in the thread i reference above are for weekend nites, yours are for weekdays, so it's possible that this area sees a lot of business travel during the week for which rates/demand is higher and rates go down drastically on the weekends (when business travel dries up and the hotels discount deeply in order to fill unsold rooms)I wouldn't add any zones that you don't want at this point since you have plenty of time before your stay, but what is your maximum bid for this stay? Is there a point where your bids for this zone get too high that staying in the airport zone would be a good trade-off?Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Romelle Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 To get from the Brussels airport to central Brussels takes about 20 minutes by train, and costs between 2 and 3 Euro. If you bid the airport Priceline area in a separate bid, you could explore lower prices, and perhaps find the good trade-off thereuare mentions. You don't need to add the area to your higher $$ bids.Romelle
GodOfThunder Posted January 25, 2010 Author Report Posted January 25, 2010 Tried a $75 bid and got the Renaissance Brussels Hotel.I really wanted one of the other spots closer to the center of the city, but this looks near the Metro and should be okay for a couple nights. Thanks!
GodOfThunder Posted January 25, 2010 Author Report Posted January 25, 2010 Took me a lot of trying starting at the $45 level and finally got a bite at $75. Thanks, BetterBidding!
