thereuare Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Any tips on using the PATH would be greatly appreciated, thanks for all the invaluable tips and information! The PATH is easy... the closest station to your hotel is the Pavonia/Newport station. On the weekdays (until 11pm) it's a direct ride to midtown (33rd St) whereas on weekends the train goes thru Hoboken first (but no transfer is necessary) Not sure the age of the kids, but if they're little, they may enjoy riding in the lead car (mine do) and looking out the window, getting the same underground tunnel view as the engineer controlling the train :)If you need any help regarding the area feel free to ask. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

Kids (9, 10, 12) would love this! Considering the high rack rates for 4* in MTE last 3 days of trip, we may consider extending our stay (PRICELINE gave us this option):Please review the following when Adding Nights:Availability is not guaranteed.Nights will be added to all rooms on a multiple-room request.Nights can be added either to the beginning or the end of your original request, not both.Total amount of nights added can be up to the number of nights on your original request. You may add nights to this request one time. The option to Add Nights is only available up until 11am on the date of check-out.In rare cases the hotel may require you to move rooms.Your new Add Nights request will be booked as a separate request. Your original reservation remains unchanged. My sister-in-law really wants to stay in NYC at least a night, so we'll see...
thereuare Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Note that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy... but it appears you'll be triple occupancy in each room. While this may not be much of a problem at the Westin (i'd call them and request a room with 2 beds in each or at least confirm that they have rollaways available)... in Manhattan this may be more of an issue since rooms are notoriously small and a large percentage of them only have one bed (with no room for a rollaway). If you opt to stay in Manhattan for part of your stay, i'd consider HOTWIRE over PRICELINE since they will allow you to search for up to quad occupancy per room, ensuring enough sleeping accomodations for everyone in your group. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Hitraveller Posted January 23, 2010 Author Report Posted January 23, 2010 Yes, I explained this to her and it just isn't worth it. I think we will probably use HOTWIRE, either way I'll follow-up with our results and decision. Thank you! :)
