jdevine14 Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Good Afternoon, I am looking to get a hotel in the NYC from June 14th until either the 16th or 17th depending on availability and price. I would like to pay under $200 and get at least a 3.5* or above hotel. I would prefer to stay in the Time Square, Midtown Central or Midtown East. I am looking for one room for 2 adults. My wife would also prefer a "name brand" type of hotel. Any help would be great!!!Thank you in advance.
thereuare Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! Is $200 your maximum rate or 'all-in' including taxes and fees? At this price would you be looking at staying for 2 or 3 nites? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. jdevine14 Posted January 22, 2010 Author Report Posted January 22, 2010 $200 is my maximum rate not including taxes and fees. I guess I am looking for 3 nites. Thanks again for your help
thereuare Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Searching HOTWIRE for your dates and the zones you're interested in:3.5* MTC for $175/nite with Boutique, Business, Internet which matches the Mansfield Hotel so that would be my best guess for this one. It's not a "name brand" that your wife is looking for, but the reviews are generally pretty good3.5* MTE for $179 with Fitness, Restaurant, Business, Internet which matches both the Roosevelt and the Tudor Hotel at the UN so either of these would be my best guess for this one.The above are the only two sub-$200 hotels in the zone(s) you're interested in... does either of these work offers work for your needs? You could try bidding on PRICELINE for this stay but you'll then be subject to any hotel in the zones you select and won't be able to take an educated guess as to the hotel you may receive.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Just to toss out a couple of alternate ideas:It would be South from where you wanted to be and a bit over your budget, but GTA Hotels.com has the 4* Carlton for $205.Additionally, while a little bit South from where you want to be, the Wyndham Garden Times Square South is $170 on Wyndham.com (please use the site's Wyndham.com link.) You could quite likely do better for a comparable hotel by using PRICELINE or HOTWIRE, but if you want a "known" and a name brand, this Wyndham property gets excellent reviews (4.5/5) on Tripadvisor. The 4* Kimberly (a 4.5/5 on tripadvisor, as well), which has not yet been reported on either HOTWIRE or PRICELINE, is $228.75 on Orbitz, but coupon code FABSAVE10 takes 10% off = $205.88. Please use the site's Orbitz.com link.Bidding for a 4* in MTE, given the hotels that have been reported so far at that star level, would also be a good bet to consider. Thank you for using the site's PRICELINE link.
jdevine14 Posted January 24, 2010 Author Report Posted January 24, 2010 Thank you for your help, if I increased my price to $250 and changed my dates to 6/14 and staying for 2 nights until 6/16 does this change any of my options?
AaronJB Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 The Muse, which is part of the highly regarded Kimpton boutique chain, is $251 on Orbitz.com for these dates, and coupon code FABSAVE10 takes 10% off = $225.90, which would be an excellent rate for this property (and this area in general) during this time of year. That hotel gets very good reviews and is in an excellent location - plus, free wine social hour at night. I'm seeing what appears to possibly be the Sheraton NY or City Club on HOTWIRE for $249. There's also a previously unidentified 4* in MTE w/restaurant, internet, business (possibly the Helmsley NY bumped up from 3.5* to 4*?)Thank you for using the site's Orbitz, PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links.
jdevine14 Posted March 11, 2011 Author Report Posted March 11, 2011 Thanks for all your help, my wife and I decided not to travel to NYC during this time.
