Hotwire Hotel: 3.5* DC (Bethesda-Silver Spring) Hilton Silver Spring

Hi,

I'm looking for a 3 - 3 1/2 stars hotel in Silver Spring (DC suburb ), to stay from Feb. 15- March 4.

It is crucial for me to make sure that I am near the metro - yet the PRICELINE Silver Spring zone goes way way up - far from the metro, and the HOTWIRE site offers only Silver Spring-Bathesda - which is no good for me as I need to stay in Silver Spring...

Does anyone have any hints how to hunt the coveted Silver Spring near the Metro hotel??

All help would be appreciated, I'm a novice.

With PRICELINE you can receive any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you select... there is no way to target a specific hotel or location within the zone.

With HOTWIRE it is oftern possible to take an educated guess as to the hotel you may receive based upon the amenities and any other information shown by HOTWIRE. So although the HOTWIRE zone is larger, this may be the better option for this stay if you're able to corretly ID the hotel before purchase (although no guarantees... so you'll need to accept some level of risk) Also, since this is an extended stay, if you're able to get the same hotel (based upon the amenities shown before your purchase) to appear for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then for the balance, and you think you've successfully identified it, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain' and confirm the hotel, then if you're correct (or it's some other property which works well for your needs) you can then purchase the balance.

What is your per nite budget (before fees and taxes) for this stay? If you search HOTWIRE does anything appear within your budget and star rating?

Three options come up in Hotwire for Bathesda-Silver Spring, out of which two interest me (third one is a 2 star):

1) 3.5 stars, 69$ - amenities: Fitness Center, Swimming Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry

2) 3 stars, 99 $ - amenities: Fitness Center, Swimming Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry, High Speed Internet, Golf Nearby

Is there a way of making a pretty educated guess as to which hotels those might be?

I did not really understand the advice in regards to the extended stay; "purchase the balance" means prolonging my period of staying there after I verified it's the right place for me (by buying the first night), right?

The 3.5* is likely the Hilton - the 3* has not yet been reported to the board/ID'd.

In terms of purchasing the balance, you would see if the same hotel is offered for the first night of your stay as well as separately, for the remainder of your stay. Purchase the first night and if you are pleased with the result, purchase the remainder separately.
