Hi all. First time priceline user and found this website to be really helpful. Looking for some help with our forthcoming trip to NYC. We have never been before and are looking for a 4* in either TS, MTE, MTW, CPS or ESB.

I have tried bidding over the last few days with no luck using all free re-bid zones. The maximum I have bid is $145 which I would have hoped to have been sucessful with. Could anyone help with any strategy? Do you think prices will come down? I understand my dates are for 7 days and maybe I should be looking at splitting up the stay to allow seperate bids but we would prefer to stay in the same hotel if poss.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

What have you bid (in terms of price/star rating/zone) so far? What would be your desired max bid (including tax) per night? I'm a little surprised that $145 was not accepted, as there is a 4* in the Midtown Central zone showing for these dates on HOTWIRE for $139.

Thank you for using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links.

Hi I have included all zones listed for 4* hotels. Started at $115 and worked up to $145 using re-bids.... no luck. Just looked on hotwire and cheapest I can see is $149. Was hoping to win at about $120 but would be able to go to $150. Any ideas on strategy?

Thanks

The 4* HOTWIRE property matches multiple properties: the Sofitel, Helmsley Park Lane, Royalton, Warwick, Flatotel and Sheraton New York have all been reported with this amenity combination in the past, so any of these would be my best guess.

Is the 4* on HOTWIRE of any intersted OR do you want to bid on PRICELINE up to $150? (or $149?)

I was hoping to get a bid around the $120 accepted but wasn't sure how realistic this would be for my dates. I have looked of hotwire but the only 4* I can see is $149 MTC. We would be happy with most of the hotels you have listed except the helmsley and flatotel. Is there anyway of narrowing it down ie working out which hotel it is. Obviously I would like to get the room for as cheap as possible and if anyone has any advice that would be great. I will be using the Priceline and HOTWIRE links here.

Thanks.

HOTWIRE doesn't provide any additional information for this property to assist in narrowing down the possibilities.

Searching HOTWIRE for your first nite of 2/17 and then the balance of your stay 2/18-2/24, what appears to be this same hotel is showing (based upon the star rating, zone, and the "recommended by 70% of customers with 500+ total reviews")... so if you desired you could purchase the first nite in order to 'look behind the curtain'. If it's one of the hotel you're happy with then go ahead and purchase the remaining nites, if it's one of the hotels you were hoping to avoid, then make alternate plans for the balance of your stay.

SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID is also another option... or there are also 3.5* HOTWIRE offerings in the $110 area, which if acceptable, the $40/nite savings add up quick on a 7 nite stay.
