Hi,

I'm planning a trip to NYC 23rd - 26th. group of 4 - need two rooms. I'd after a 4* for around $150. That doesnt seem too unreasonable but im not having any luck. Best I found was a 3* on hotwire for $143.

I'm flexible about location - just want to be able to get to the sights fairly easily (short cab or close to the metro)

Priceline have rejected my bids up to $140 in Midtown West, Midtown East, Empire State Building Area, Long Island City, Madison Square Garden - Convention Area, Times Square - Theatre District.

Any ideas? Am i just being unrealistic?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Spring is an expensive time in NYC (more expensive than prices we're currently seeing for April) and it may be a bit early for hotels to be discounting too deeply given the higher demand period, instread preferring to hold onto inventory a little longer in hopes of selling rooms themselves at a higher price.

HOTWIRE has what i believe to be the 70 Park Avenue Kimpton Hotel available for $189/nite, if you're willing to stretch your budget a bit, which has mostly good reviews.

No one can say for certain if rates will drop as your dates approach, but given the current economy/hotel market, and time between now and your stay, i would continue to try bidding in the weeks ahead (trying no more than once or twice a week at this point to avoid frustration)
