abrouss1 Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 I have bid what seems like a million times starting at 70 and going to 110 for the 2/26-2/28 dates for a 5* on the North Strip. All rejected. I also bid separately for 2/28-3/2 since they were weekdays and wanted a cheaper rate. I started at 50 and went up to 85 for the same location and 5*, still all rejected. What should I do to get a good rate? I have seen 110 being accepted at the Trump for this weekend. Should I wait until closer or just try something else? I have never used PRICELINE, but have been on it all day! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
thereuare Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 If you decide to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID please use separate threads for each leg of your stay. The Priceline Winning bid at $110 for the same weekend has different dates than your own. That win for for a Saturday and Sunday nite (one expensive nite and one inexpensive nite) whereas your dates are for two weekend nites (both expensive)... so the average nightly of the other stay is lower than the average nighty rate of your own, which explains why your stay would require a higher bid to be accepted than the other user. What is your maximum bid for these weekend nites of your stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. abrouss1 Posted January 21, 2010 Author Report Posted January 21, 2010 Ok, that makes sense. I did try to just bid for Friday night at 110 and it was still rejected. I guess I will have to go up. Not sure what my max is yet. That is where I would LOVE to stay is around 110 but definitely no more than 120. I would just hate to check out 3 different times for a four night stay. Sorry about posting the topics together. Thanks!
Double_Downon11 Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 FYI, A friend of mine booked her own rooms in Vegas for similar dates (25th - 28th) but I don't think she posted on the board. I believe she bid up to $134 and finally got the Trump. I believe Nascar is in town that week so prices may be inflated for the time being.
abrouss1 Posted January 21, 2010 Author Report Posted January 21, 2010 OK, finally sucked it up and went up to 120 for the friday and saturday together and it was still rejected. I will have to think some more on how high I am willing to go. I may try 4* North strip for TI at 120 and see. Thanks
thereuare Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 Is $120 your limit only for the weekend nites or the maximum nightly budget for the entire stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. abrouss1 Posted January 21, 2010 Author Report Posted January 21, 2010 I would like to pay less for the weeknights if I could, because people seem to be paying less for those dates. I am considering maybe trying to stay somewhere cheaper for the fri and sat, and then paying for the 5* on the weeknights.
