threechords Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 First time poster but have been trying to read a lot of the posts, for the last 45 minutes or so.Nice map of the various hotels in the DB.My issue is with Hawaii. I am going to cut and paste some stuff :).Hi there, can you suggest a bidding strategy for the JW Ihilani from April 7 to April 11th 2010. I don't want to stay in any other place. This is our 10 year anniversary and we honeymooned there, and went back at 5 years. I can pay up to a maximum of $120. I don't know if I am too early for these dates. I did see something that PL is best around a month before but there is no sweet spot. Thanks for your help.Saw the below post. It would appear Ihilani is resort but it is not on any lists I have seen on this site. I don't see it listed as "JW Marriott" either. That said, I would guess after looking around thatAIRPORTDIAMOND HEADWAIANAECITY CENTRAL are the REBID zones sticking with resort and Ihilani in Hawaii. Can someone please confirm that? TIA for helping a total neeeewbie out :)Thanks, great site. Wow I love all this information. Thanks againsbPS oops. Forgot to mention. I have not, yet, seen any talk about room "view". Are all these PL rooms "bad" views (parking lot/mountain etc). We go to see the ocean, from Chicago, and so a cheap room rate with no ocean view is not worth it. Looking at PL it seems all they give you is 4 walls and a bed. Is there a way to use PL for Hawaii, I have used it before for NY once, to get an ocean view room? Sorry if I missed that somewhere before posting.Re rebidding...At the Resort level in Waikiki you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select Resort Waikiki Beach...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $95, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect Resort Waikiki Beach and re-bid zone5...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $103, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $110Any questions feel free to ask.
thereuare Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 We go to see the ocean, from Chicago, and so a cheap room rate with no ocean view is not worth it.All that is guaranteed with PRICELINE (and HOTWIRE) is a 'standard' room... there is no way to guarantee that you will receive a oceanview room, which at many hotels is considered an upgrade. You can contact the hotel beforehand and request a room with an oceanview, but no guarantees they will be willing to do so... some hotels also allow you to upgrade at check-in for an additional fee, but again, no guarnatee that the hotel you receive will offer this option and/or have availability for the length of your stay. If you must have a room with an Oceanview then the opaque providers are probably not the best way for you to book this stay. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
