lexi Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 I need a reservation for a nice hotel. I would really like the Venetian, but it seems that there is a convention in the hotel during this time. I tried bidding up to 150.00 on priceline with no luck. Does anyone have any idea of how much I need to go up in price ? I get the counter offer for over 200.00.I have been looking at Hotwire also and noticed I can get a 4.5 hotel of 105.00. I don't want the Westin (was there when they were refurbishing and didn't like the walk to the strip at night) hopefully that is a 4* on hotwire. Chances are I can get MGM or Aladdin with a 4.5 ? and are the rooms nice there ?Thanks in advance for any advice !!!!

thereuare Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 Based upon our HOTWIRE LAS VEGAS HOTELS list this is a match for Caesars and the MGM. No telling which, but i'd lean towards the MGM as we see it appear much more often then Caesars and rates at Caesars for these dates are high.I don't think that this is a good deal at all since the MGM is available thru their website for $90/nite for this stay. Hotwire does have a Double the Difference Guarantee but after their fee you wouldn't be talking about much money and i think there are better deals to be had:Luxor (i don't like location) is $79/niteBally's is $109/nite.NYNY is $80/nite.Monte Carlo is $99/niteI think all of the above represent a better deal than the $100 Hotwire offering, plus since it's thru the hotel's website, they should be cancellable up to 48 hours before check-in date (double check each hotel's policy), which still gives you time to watch for a rate drop at the Venetian in order to try it on Priceline or Hotwire. lexi Posted January 15, 2005 Author Report Posted January 15, 2005 Thank you again for your advice. I wanted to mention that I won a hotwire bid for the MGM once before. I noticed that the hotel offered the room for less. I went through the process of getting the double the difference back from hotwire. Hotwire advised me that the room I purchased from them was an upgraded room. It was a deluxe room not the standard room. I don't know if there is such a thing, that one tower is more expensive then the other. It wasn't alot of money to dispute, but something to keep in mind
thereuare Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 This happened once before as well... HOTWIRE does book a room higher than standard at this property. They have actually been very good about their "Double the Difference" guarantee... i have yet to hear of an instance where a user had met the terms but that they didn't pay.Have you found anything for this stay yet? lexi Posted January 18, 2005 Author Report Posted January 18, 2005 I was going to take a gamble at the 4.5* closer to the time of arrival. But, I have been looking at the NY NY location for the Park Ave Deluxe room. Is this a nice hotel ?I'm not too worried. At the worst I used to stay at the Stratosphere..it's a little far down the road..But, it's a familiar place and I still may have some comped points saved for a room there
thereuare Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 NYNY has a good location at the "Four Corners". Never stayed there, but it certainly has a better reputation than the Strat.
