hamjerem Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Hello Everyone,I will be going on spring break with a buddy of mine. I've been to manhattan several times before.I'm looking for a hotel specifically in the times square area or midtown(but not so far as 1st or 2nd avenue, or as west as hells kitchen or 9th avenue).I'm looking for a 3.5* or a 4.0* hotel.I want to spend around 100 a night? Is this reasonable for times square or midtown? Also, I want to know when I should start bidding for hotels in early march.I've never used priceline before and i'm confused about the steps in order to maximize success! Thanks to anyone that can help me out!
thereuare Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! Not sure if your $100 maximum is bid price or 'all-in' including fees and taxes... if bid price i'd say your chances of success are possible, but doubtful... if all-in i don't think you have much of a chance at all.I would begin bidding as soon as your plans are firm, since if you are successful, i wouldn't see rates getting too much lower between now and your stay.If you're ready to bid, please look at the zone names and boundaries that PRICELINE uses and let us know which zone(s) (by PRICELINE name) that you're willing to accept and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. hamjerem Posted January 11, 2010 Author Report Posted January 11, 2010 thank you, im looking for midtown west(times square) and midtown east
AaronJB Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Is your budget $100 "all-in" (including taxes) or $100 (bid only)?
thereuare Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 I'll also add that if you're looking at the 3.5* level in the MTE zone, look at the location of the Milleniun UN, which is about a 15 minute walk to the subway... would this be an acceptable outcome? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. hamjerem Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 sorry everybody for not making it clear, i meant just 100$ bid only, NOT including taxes. the only thing that concerns me about the millenium is the distance..its a little TOO east for me lol.i noticed that some other bidders were having success with the grand hyatt in MTE for a good price.
thereuare Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 the only thing that concerns me about the millenium is the distance..its a little TOO east for me lol.Which is why i point it out :) It's not terrible... but not as convenient as most of the other properties. So let us know if you'd like to include this zone in your bidding or not.i noticed that some other bidders were having success with the grand hyatt in MTE for a good price. This is a 4* hotel in the MTE zone, and while a new 4* hotel could appear at anytime, all the 'known' 4 star properties are well located within the zone. However, $100 for the Grand Hyatt doesn't seem like a very high probability bet. While we have seen great deals at this property, $100 or under would be a new recent low for this property.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. hamjerem Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 i would not want the millenium in my bidding.also, i'm not that firm on my price.please suggest zone bidding methods and price bidding methods that i could use to get a good deal!thank you!

AaronJB Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Please do not start a new thread for this stay. Thanks. :)There has not been a 3* TS previously reported with that exact amenity set, but my guess is that this may be the Paramount w/a previously unseen smoke-free icon. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
