Priceline Hotel: Priceline Bidding Procedure Question for San Fran

I'm a newbie to the board and Priceline, so this is probably a very easy question for someone with more experience. I am trying to bid on a hotel in San Fran's Financial District for 4/23-4/26. So far, I've submitted the following bids for a 4-star hotel: $75, $78, $81, and $86. After submitting my bid of $86 I received a message from Priceline that if I'd up my bid by $22, I could resubmit my bid immediately. I didn't do it, because I had never heard of that. Any advise would be appreciated.

My understanding is that this means you are very close to a winning bid, which is NOT $22 more. If you have a free re-bid, I'd try bidding $5 more to see if that works.

As mentioned above, this would mean that, if you raised $22, you would have a very likely chance of being accepted (this is commonly refered to as a "counter-offer" by PRICELINE.) However, you may not need to go that high, as the actual rate required for acceptance may be between where you last bid and the counter-offer price. Using re-bidding is an option to bid again, and you could increase $5 to see if that would be accepted.
