Blueshirt35 Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Hi there!Am looking for bidding assistance for one room pre-cruise. This was the second day in a row that I have tried but no luck. I'm usually a lurker so please forgive me if I miss any information needed for assistance.Yesterday I started out at $75 and the resort level (low I know) and continued in $5 increments up to $95 through a combination of lowering the star level and rebidding in zones outside of the star levels I had selected.Today I started out with San Juan and bid of $85, 3.5 stars. Based on yesterday's no win day, I actually bid in $10 increments up to $115. To rebid, I added zones that were 3 star or lower. There is a 3.5* hotel on Hotwire that I believe to be the Sheraton Convention Center for $114. I say believe because a fellow traveler in our group thinks it looks like the information that was there when she purchased through Hotwire last week. I was unable to find an ID on Hotwire board. (On a side note, amenities are Smoke Free Rooms, Restaurant(s), High Speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby)Two separate parties in our group (there are about 80 of us) received the Intercontinental a few months back for $90. Cheapest direct rate I could find for one of the Priceline listed hotels was Marriott Resort at $199. Both Embassy suites and Sheraton Old San Juan are showing as no availability. In terms of a max, with the inevitable resort fee and Hotwire's current availability, I would probably want to go no higher than $115. With a late arrival into San Juan, we are really just using the room as a place to sleep and shower. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!Colleen
yellowdog Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 It's hard to advice you since you have reaced your maximum. Romelle Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 On the Priceline retail side there is a 1* Howard Johnson for $88. Supposed to be 6 miles (15 minutes) from the airport. Orbitz has the same hotel rated a 2* and priced at $110. If you get desperate?Romelle

Though it's back up to $114 right now, we just might end up going that route since it seems to be the hotel fellow passengers got (we could then share cabs). Thanks for the info!
