cruiser222 Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Placed a bid on a 3.5 for Miami Downtown. Did the rebid by checking Miami West as it had no 3.5 in it's zone. Pressed enter and ended up with Miami West Courtyard. With taxes paying $90 for day in March. This to me is very high for that area and rating. If there are no 3.5 in a zone can priceline put you into a 3 in that zone?
AaronJB Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :) What are the date/s of travel for this stay, and what was the price before tax? Additionally, can you confirm what the screen says on your account for this trip (it should say the star rating.) Miami West has no 3.5*'s, so I'm guessing (?) you checked 3* rather than adding just the zone (?) and got a 3*. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases.
cruiser222 Posted January 17, 2010 Author Report Posted January 17, 2010 Hi, I deffinately checked a 3.5 as I followed the advice from this site. The price before tax is $72. plus $17 in tax for one night.
AaronJB Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Did you check anything in the Miami West zone (star rating) or did you just check the zone itself? Additionally, what does it say in your account under this trip?

Additionally, what does it say in your account under this trip?I kept my check mark in miami downtown at a 3.5 and the opened up miami west so I could rebid miami downtown. I didn't check a 3 in either zone/ I knew there was no 3.5 in miami west. On my confirmation from priceline the courtyard has 3 stars. Is priceline allowed to substitute a 3 star for a 3.5 as they are both 3? The types of hotels considered 3 and that of a 3.5 are different according to the priceline information. I think they refer to this situation as a bait and switch.
AaronJB Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 I would contact PRICELINE in this situation, as you should not have been able to get a 3* in Miami West (or a 3* in general) if 3* was not at all checked. What is/was the date of travel?
