Hello all,

Long time viewer, first time poster.

Planning a trip to Chicago for April 1-6, and found this 3 Star Hotel on Hotwire for $65 (just went up to $67 within 5 minutes of me writing this)

Hotel has: Fitness Room, Pool, Business Center, Restaurant, Internet and Laundry Facilities.

Upon checking your master list, it seems it would either be Four Points Sheraton and Holiday Inn Mart Plaza.

The determining factor I believe is that Hotwire claims it has a 4 rating on Trip Advisor with 180+ reviews. Mart Plaza doesn't have 180 reviews, and Sheraton does.

So I think it's Four Points Sheraton.

Thoughts? Because it is the long weekend, do you think it's a good idea to make this reservation now before rooms start selling out, or wait it out? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If I do end up going the Hotwire route, I will certainly start by clicking through this site.

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

This would be a match for either the Four Points or HI, and the 180 reviews would indicate this is likely the 4 Points - which is good, as the HI - while not a bad property - is rather out of the way. May I ask if you need to be in a particular location? I'm also seeing a 4* in the Mag Mile/Streeterville area for $65 that shows a 4.5/5 tripadvisor rating and 140 reviews. My guess would be that that may be Sutton Place, which is a lot more hotel for the same price.

Additionally, in the Mag Mile area, I'm also seeing a 3.5* Suite w/Suite, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Complimentary Breakfast, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business for $73 - that's likely the Embassy Suites downtown. For $5 more than the 3*, you'd get free breakfast, larger room and evening reception.

Either would be - in my opinion - a better deal than the 3*; if the 4* is the Sutton, that would be an outstanding deal for that upscale property. The 3.5* would be a better value.

Thanks for the quick response! I'm going primarily to see Bulls, Blackhawks and White Sox games, so I wanted ideally to be somewhere downtown but close to transit to get to and from the games (heard the stadiums aren't in great areas to stay. I'm flying into Midway Airport and will just be cabbing it to the downtown core probably. It seems that somewhere in the Loop may be beneficial as well, but I haven't been able to find very good deals on Hotwire for that area. Plus Mag Mile shopping would probably be fun.

Of the ones you mentioned,I like the Embassy Suites option, but I can't find a 4 star for $65? The only one I see now is for $89.

Since I have a few months I might just monitor the situation for now. Thanks again for your input! Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Are you searching for more than 2 in the room? That may be why the $65 is not appearing. The Embassy Suites property (3.5* Mag Mile, w/Suite, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Complimentary Breakfast, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business) would be a nice choice a few blocks from the Four Points. I thought maybe this was the Cubs Home Opener time period, but that's another week or so foward from these dates. Still, I'd recommend looking to book relatively soon, as rates for the first week of April are not likely to fall much (if at all) below these levels.

I ended up taking your advice and booking the 4* under the North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast Hotel category and it turned out to the Sutton Place Hotel. I got it for $64 a night plus taxes.

Thanks so much for the help!!

Certainly the lowest rate I've ever seen for this excellent property, which only comes up very rarely (maybe a handful of times in the last few years?) on HOTWIRE (I was surprised to see the 4* NMA-WT-GC w/ Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, especially at that price.) That area is quite a nightlife heavy area, as well - the Gold Coast has a lot of bars and restaurants (such as the popular Whiskey Bar and Grill in the hotel.) There's the Original Pancake House across the street, which is great, and both Tavern on Rush and Carmine's the next block North. Morton's Steakhouse is also right there. Tempo, a few blocks South on Chestnut is another breakfast option, although if I remember correctly they only take cash.

There is a CTA subway station right nearby on Clark & Division.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE link to start your purchase, and enjoy your stay.
