Thomas17 Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 I used Priceline (your link) to book 3 nights at the Trump. Bid was accepted at $94 for 1/21-1/23, and I extended my stay another night for $112. We stayed at the Trump in March and look forward to our return trip.Bidding process used:Started with bid of $75 for 1/21-1/24 (not accepted)Added zone and raised bid to $80 (not accepted).Added another zone and raised bid to $85 (not accepted)Added another zone and raised bid to $90 (not accepted)Added another zone and raised bid to $95 (not accepted)Changed date to 1/21-1/23 and bid $94 (accepted).Priceline offered extended stay on confirmation page (normal practice), however they did not accept $94 bid and countered at $112. Since we do not want to move hotels a decision was made to accept the counter, although we could have likely saved a few more dollars by bidding only for the 3rd nt. (Sat 1/23).Since Saturday night is typically more expensive (as confirmed by the counter offer), I was careful not to overbid for Thurs/Friday and made the decision to change dates and separate my trip into Th/Fr and Sat. Since Priceline allows you to extend your stay I knew I would have the choice to add Sat. night at a reasonable rate.Another advantage of going after a 5* in Vegas is there are 12 zones in Vegas and only 2 (North and South Strip) offer 5* so you can rebid multiple times without waiting 24 hours. The example above was conducted in less than 1 hour.Good luck to other bidders and thanks for the helpful hints on this website. I hope others find this posting beneficial.
