crose Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 I've never used hotwire (or priceline) before! So I'm very unsure and was hoping I could get some help before I bid. I've got my eye on a 3 star hotel for $89 in the white house/capitol area of DC. The amenities listed are Non smoking, pool, restaurants, laundry facilities. Could anyone give me an idea of what hotel this might be? I'm trying to not get too far from the conference hotel, which is the Renaissance Washington. ($300 a night, which is why I'm looking at hotwire!) Any help would be appreciated. Also, as a sidenote I saw a 3.5 star for $169 in the same (whitehouse capitol hill) area. Is a half star really worth that much more? My stay dates are 3/18 through 3/24/2010. Which is why I'm so nervous. A bad hotel is bearable for a day or so; six days, not so much!
AaronJB Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)The 3* has not yet been ID'd, but my guess would be that it is the Four Points Sheraton with a previously unseen smoke-free icon (the Four Points is smoke-free) . The Four Points has been previously reported with restaurant, pool, laundry. The tripadvisor rating showing on the detail page for the HOTWIRE listing is 3.5/5, which is a match for the Four Points rating on TA. That's not saying that this still couldn't be something else (it could), but given the information, that would be my guess. In terms of the 3.5*, it really depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a comfortable place to sleep and will be out most of the day, then spending nearly twice as much may not be worthwhile. What are the amenities showing with the 3.5?Rates do seem rather high for these dates. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
crose Posted January 13, 2010 Author Report Posted January 13, 2010 I'm going for a failry large conference, and I understand that the area fills up with lobbysists around this time as well. So this is probably what accounts for the jump in room rates. Alrighty then, I think I'll give it a shot and let you know what happens!
crose Posted January 13, 2010 Author Report Posted January 13, 2010 Booked it! Got the Four Points by Sheraton for $89 a night. I used the link on this site to book through HOTWIRE.Thanks again for all the help! I'll definitely remember this site the next time I book

AaronJB Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 When I look on Expedia for this property for 3/18-24/10, I'm seeing a final total of $1,926.37. At $89 a night, I'm seeing the HOTWIRE total of $617 and change for the stay. This is certainly a REALLY nice first HOTWIRE/PRICELINE purchase and a great deal in general - what a fantastic discount off regular rate ($280), especially for a busy period.
