cmc1000 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 2/17-2/18Amenities listed: Airport Shuttle Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access I got this booking a week ago and was happy with it. Since then, Hotwire has emailed me that since the laundry facilities were listed erroneously as an amenity, I can either cancel and get a $50 Hotwire credit (and rebook or not) or keep my room and get 50% off my entire stay, :) which unfortuately is just one night! The 3* price has gone up to $59 in the last couple days. I would love to get the Hyatt Regency for less than $100 but can't tell if it is a 3 1/2 or 4 star. I'd be bummed if I got a 3 1/2 that wasn't the Hyatt. Any suggestions?
AaronJB Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Congratulations on your success!$50 in credit would certainly be a great deal! :) Please start a new thread if you would like to rebook for this stay using credit. The Hyatt is a 4* (although it appears the same as a different property in the same zone), but the 4* in this zone I'm seeing for this date is showing at $185.Additionally, can you clarify the address/which Hyatt Place location this is? Thanks.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.Enjoy your stay.
cmc1000 Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 It's the Hyatt Place /Orlando Airport Northwest, about 2-2.5 miles from airport, 5435 Forbes Place.
thereuare Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 You can confirm the math, but i'm currently seeing the 3* in the MCO zone for $49/nite ($62.35 all-in)If you cancel, take the $50 credit, you could re-book what appears to be this same property for $12 all-in... that would likely be the deal i'd be taking, as Hyatt Place properties generally get very good reviews from board members and include breakfast. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. cmc1000 Posted January 13, 2010 Author Report Posted January 13, 2010 That's good advice, and I might take it but I am going to wait a couple days to see if the 4* price goes down. We have a very early flight and it would be so cool to not have to deal with a shuttle bus at 5 am.Can you answer this: When I go to www.hotwire.com, the 3-star is $59 and there is no 4 star, but when I go through the Better Bidding link, the 3 star is $49 and there is a 4 star for $185?
thereuare Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 In regards to the 3* HOTWIRE rates can change slightly from one search to the next (so that a specific price isn't associated with a specific hotel). As far as the 4* i'm seeing it on both searches. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. cmc1000 Posted January 13, 2010 Author Report Posted January 13, 2010 I see what's happening -- I had one search 2 adults/2 children and that was giving me 4 hotels at MCO with the 3 star $59 and no 4 star; when I did the search from BB, it only had 2 adults and it gave me the 3 star at $49 and the 4 star. Hmmmm.... guess that means those are 1 bed rooms?
thereuare Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 .... guess that means those are 1 bed rooms? Not necessarily. Many hotels book their discoutned rooms as "Run of House" which means that it will be assigned at check-in. This makes it easier for them to manage their room inventory and accomodate any higher paying, hotel direct, customers. So it's not necessary that it's only a one bedded room, but the hotel may not want to commit to the room type, as it gives them flexibility to accomodate any new reservations/customers that may be looking to book between now and the dates of your stay. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. cmc1000 Posted January 13, 2010 Author Report Posted January 13, 2010 But is it common for the hotel or Hotwire to charge $10 more for 2 more people in the room even if they are children? It looks like at this point I should just take the 50% off the booked room. If I rebook at the $59 rate with the $50 coupon, it'll be comparable to getting 50% off the $39 rate I have -- either would end up being approximately $25.
thereuare Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 Each hotel sets it's own policy... some charge more for quad occupancy regardless of age of the 'extra' 2 people, some charge only of the 3rd and 4th guests are adults, while others don't allow quad occupancy in some of their rooms at all. I rebooked at the Hyatt Regency MCO when the Hotwire price came down to $69 for 2 adults and 2 children. I'm very happy to get a 4 star hotel for a net output of about $35! And to be right at the airport for a 6:45 am flight. (Started new thread with Hyatt Regency bid.)
cmc1000 Posted January 24, 2010 Author Report Posted January 24, 2010 Booked through Better Bidding HOTWIRE link. Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center High-speed Internet Access I've been waiting for the price of the 4* at MCO to go down. It has been at $185 for weeks. I'm thrilled to get this hotel at this price to be able to be at the airport for an early morning flight. I was worried about dependability of shuttle buses from nearby hotels at 5 am (I'm a worrier and not a morning person :) )Someone noted that if you click as if to book the room and scroll down on the second page, it sometimes shows TripAdvisor rating. Apparently the Hyatt Regency is 4.5 star and the Renaissance is 4 star on that rating. In this case, that tip worked. Thanks for the Better Bidding advice.

cmc1000 Posted January 24, 2010 Author Report Posted January 24, 2010 There WAS a shuttle logo, I'm sure. I must have cut it off when I was cutting and pasting. Sorry.
