studio Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 HiI'm going to NYC 6th of June -> 10th of June and using the HOTWIRE link I found this 3.5* in MTE for $139 a night.3.5 out of 5 rating on TripadvisorFitness CenterGuests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply.Restaurant(s)Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary.Business CenterGuests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply.High-speed Internet AccessGuestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. Any idea which hotel it might be?And I remember using hotwire last year, then you could see approx how many reviews the hotel had on Tripadvisor. Did Hotwire remove that?
studio Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 HiI'm going to NYC 6th of June -> 10th of June and using the HOTWIRE link I also found this 3* in MTC for $165 a night.3.5 out of 5 rating on TripadvisorFitness CenterGuests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply.Pool(s)Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal.Restaurant(s)Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary.High-speed Internet AccessGuestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. thereuare Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. The MTE property matches the Roosevelt as well as the Tudor Hotel at the UN... so either of these would be my best guess for this one. The MTC property matches the Holiday Inn Midtown 57th St so that would be my best guess there. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. studio Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 Thank you for the help.Roosevelt would be nice, Tudor seems a bit to the east for someone who likes to walk. Hmm...I need to think a bit about this :)Holiday Inn doesnt seem to be worth the extra $ so that one is out.*edit*I tried to book a room these dates on the Tudor website to see what the prices are and got this: We are sorry but the property you have selected is not available for the dates or for the criteria you have requested. And I get the same answer from several travel agencys.Might this increase the chance it will be Roosevelt?
AaronJB Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 The fact that the Tudor is showing sold out lessens the chances that the HOTWIRE listing could be the Tudor, but doesn't take away the possibility entirely. Thanks for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
southnam Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 I'm looking at the same thing for the MTE 3.5* for my May stay. I hope it's not the Tudor b/c it is too far east for me. Looking forward to seeing what it is if you bite on it.
studio Posted January 7, 2010 Author Report Posted January 7, 2010 Booking.com has Wyndham Garden Hotel - Times Square South these four night for $680, seems to be a nice hotel? Its rated as high as #16 on Tripadvisor.I might go with that, I let you know if I do that or if I take my chances with hotwire.
AaronJB Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 Please use the site's Orbitz.com link if you decide to book the Wyndham deal - Orbitz has the same price.
studio Posted January 7, 2010 Author Report Posted January 7, 2010 Please use the site's Orbitz.com link if you decide to book the Wyndham deal - Orbitz has the same price. When I look up the Orbitz deal I got the same price without taxes as booking.com w/o taxex, $680. But after taxes Orbitz is $883 and booking.com states that tax are 14.75%+$3.5 a night which will sum up to $794.Or might there be som hidden taxes there?
thereuare Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 Each service determines their own booking fee, which is included in one line as "taxes and fees", and that is the likely difference in the rates. You could book HERE for $787 all-in... cheaper than either of the above :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
studio Posted January 8, 2010 Author Report Posted January 8, 2010 Ty for the PRICELINE linkLooking up HOTWIRE again and now the MTE 3.5* star hotel is $146 a night. Doesnt that indicate change of hotel?Same amenities as above.
thereuare Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 Not necessarily, it's common for HOTWIRE hotels to show a slightly different rate from one search to the next (although $20 is a bit extreme) or the hotel could have lowered/raised their HOTWIRE rate since you last searched. Even if it is a change of hotel, unless there is some more information provided to HOTWIRE, the guess as to possible hotels would be the same since it's based upon the star rating and amenities. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. studio Posted January 10, 2010 Author Report Posted January 10, 2010 I'm sorry to say that I chicken out on Hotwire this time, I booked Wyndham Garden Hotel Times Square through that PRICELINE link instead.Since we probably will be coming from and leaving to Newark its nice to be so close to Penn Station.
AaronJB Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 Thank you for using the site's PRICELINE link to start your purchase and letting us know what you decided for this stay. While I'm guessing this was a regular rate purchase, can you confirm that this PRICELINE purchase was regular rate and not via bidding? Thanks. :)
studio Posted January 10, 2010 Author Report Posted January 10, 2010 Yes it was regular rate purchase, $170 a night.
AaronJB Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 Thank you for the follow-up. Enjoy your stay. :)
