eleuele Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Hello,I would like to book a 4.5 or 5 star hotel either in Midtown east or west and need two rooms(one single occupancy and the other for 2 adults and a baby).I am prepared to pay 200 dollars per night, do you think I stand a chance? is it better to use priceline or hotwire?if the room is not big enough how do u get an upgrade?thank you in advanceeleuele
thereuare Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! To begin, PRICELINE does not offer 4.5* or 5* hotels in either the MTE or MTW zone. HOTWIRE does offer at least one 4.5* in the MTE zone (the Benjamin), but this is a 4* rated hotel on PRICELINE, so in this instance it's not as if you're getting a better hotel with HOTWIRE vs. PRICELINE, but rather each rates the hotel differently. (the ratings could be the same thru each service or different... each uses their own criteria to rate hotels)Secondly, all that PRICELINE guarantees is double occupancy... after that it's at the discretion of the hotel. HOTWIRE does allow you to search for up to quad occupancy per room. Usually with a baby i would probably be willing to take the 'priceline risk' of only having double occupancy, except if i needed a crib/pak-n-play in the room, as many NYC hotel rooms are so small that they may not be able to accomodate a crib/pak-n-play. If you're willing to 'make do' and perhaps use some cushions/pillows (depending upon the age of your baby of course, as i know really small infants should be sleeping on pillows) if you get a room that can't accomodate a crib/pak-n-play, or if you're willing to have the baby sleep in the same bed with the parents, then i'd be willing to give PRICELINE a try for this stay... if you must have separate bedding for the baby i would sooner use HOTWIRE.Let us know if you have any questions regarding the above and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
