Kathleen123 Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 I am going to try bidding on a hotel stay for April in Newport Huntington area. I've noticed that winning bids for the Hyatt in Huntington are usually higher than winning bids at the Hyatt in Newport. Can you give me suggestions on how to try to win the Hyatt in HB instead of the one in NB?Thanks so much, Kathleen

Kathleen123 Posted January 5, 2010 Author Report Posted January 5, 2010 I will be staying in the Newport/Huntington area from March 29th - April 2. The plans are firm.
thereuare Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 There is no way to target a specific property on PRICELINE, and if you try to bid high in hopes of the Huntington Beah property, you could just as easily receive the Newport Beach property (and overpay for it)Not sure of your plans, but what appears to be the well reviewed Shorebreak Hotel is available for $90/nite.. if that works for your plans/budget.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Kathleen123 Posted January 5, 2010 Author Report Posted January 5, 2010 I looked at this hotels website and it looks very nice and $90 is a great price. I'm not sure if its the property we would want to be at, the hotel does not have a pool and my husband and I want to just relax and lay around a pool for a few days. I will talk to him tonight about this property. Can you tell me how to get the 90 price if he wants me to proceed tonight? If he doesn't I will just bid a low price maybe $50 and see what we get. Thanks for your help.
AaronJB Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 I'm seeing a 4* in the Newport Beach/Huntington Beach zone on HOTWIRE w/Beachfront, Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis (I'm seeing it for $85, but the price you see may vary.) That would be a possible match for the Shorebreak. Please use the site's HOTWIRE link.
Kathleen123 Posted January 9, 2010 Author Report Posted January 9, 2010 :) Well I did it! First time ever bidding and I think I did pretty well.I bid Newport/Huntington area for $45.00 it was rejected. Then I added Zone 1 for $49.00 it was rejected. Then I added Zone 2 for $52.00, was rejected. Then I added Zone 3 for $55.oo was rejected. Then I added Zone 5 for $58.00 it was accepted for the Shorebreak hotel in Huntington Beach!I was a little dissapointed because the hotel doesn't have a pool, but am very excited to try this boutique hotel that gets raves on trip advisor. If anyone has hints on how to get a free or paid upgrade in this hotel, please share. Thanks for your help, I did use the PRICELINE link from this website.Kathleen
AaronJB Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Congratulations on your success! :)Glad to hear that you're mostly pleased with your win and looking forward to your stay. PRICELINE reservations are not eligible for upgrades, but it doesn't hurt to ask politely (as it may depend on who you ask) at check-in and see what they say.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
