steveref Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Hotwire lists this property for $119 per night with the following amenities:FitnessPoolRestaurantBusinessTennisSpaThis matches up closely with the Caribe Hilton except for not having a reference to Beachfront.
AaronJB Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Good morning. :)Please first follow-up with what you decided to do for the trip discussed in this prior Stamford Hotwire thread (post the result in that thread), then reply to this thread and we will be happy to look into the above listing. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
steveref Posted January 5, 2010 Author Report Posted January 5, 2010 I have responded to the Stamford post as requested.
thereuare Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 I'm guessing this may be the Caribe Hilton, but here is a 'safer' way to play it if this is the property you're hoping for:Re-run your HOTWIRE search but for 2adults/2children. A 'new' 4* hotel appears in this zone for the same price but with the full list of amenities previously associated with the Hilton: Beachfront, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Tennis SpaYour previous search may be this same hotel but with the Beachfront icon 'hiding' on the 2adults/0children search, so better to purchase as 2adults/2children since this is the 'stronger' match for this property. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let su know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
steveref Posted January 5, 2010 Author Report Posted January 5, 2010 Thanks for the advice. Since we will be requiring 2 rooms I ran a new search using your HOTWIRE link for 4 adults, 2 children and it came back with the Beachfront icon. What is the reason for "hiding" an icon? I think this would be an important amenity to show as it would help to make the sale. This is not necessarily the property I had been hoping for since my preference would be to have a casino on site. However, if I can identify it with a reasonable degree of certainty (which it appears I now can), then this would be an acceptable fallback position.I had also been submitting bids using your PRICELINE link and had been rejected up through $117 using the Resorts category (which includes the Caribe Hilton) and through $109 selecting the 4-star category. This HOTWIRE offering would appear to be our best option. Will post to the board once a purchase has been made.
AaronJB Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 A property may hide an icon to make the listing more opaque. Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links and keeping us updated. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links and keeping us updated. Please let us know if you have any further questions.I went back later the same day to purchase what I was now sure would be the Caribe Hilton; however, that offering was no longer available. There was another 4 star San Juan property listed at the same price of $119 for 1/15/10-1/18/10 with these amenities:Near BeachOceanfrontCasinoFitnessPoolRestaurantsBusinessLaundryGolfTennisSpaThis matched up exactly with the Conrad Condado Plaza. I made the purchase and was happier with this selection over the Caribe Hilton as there is a casino on site and the Trip Advisor rating is higher.I used the site's HOTWIRE link.
thereuare Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 Congratualtions on your success!Glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and that you're happy with the results.Thank you for sharing your results with the board and using our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase.Enjoy your stay.
