shell42 Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 I'm trying to book something for this weekend in Atlantic City. I've gone up to $110 for 3.5 and 4-star hotels on Priceline. All my bids have been rejected. Any suggestions? It's my husband's 30th and he loves playing poker so I'd love to stay in a hotel with a casino. Anyone know why this weekend is so busy (I thought it would be a quiet/cheap weekend to go!). Thanks!!
thereuare Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! Is this for Friday and Saturday, 1/8-1/10? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
shell42 Posted January 5, 2010 Author Report Posted January 5, 2010 No --- only the night of Sat Jan 9. I bid up to $110 for a 3.5* on priceline. Is it possible that they will email me letting me know that they have decided to accept one of my bids? (I'm a Priceline first timer!)Right now my Hotwire options are: $122 for a 3.5* (pool, non-smoking, beach, restaurant) or $107 for a 3* (pool, gym, beach, restaurant). Do you know what hotels these might be? I couldn't match them up with the ones you had listed on the main page. I'm not convinced that I"m going to be getting a great deal by using Hotwire or Priceline. I could always just use Expedia and stay at the Trump Marina Casino Hotel for $135 (includes breakfast for two and a $10 gaming credit).Any advice would be very helpful! Thanks so much!
AaronJB Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 For 1/9, I'm seeing the 4* Atlantic City Hilton on sale for $112.77 (it says only a few rooms left at that price) on Orbitz.com, and coupon code WELCOME10 takes 10% off that price = $101.50, cheaper than any of the above. Would that hotel work for your needs/plans?PRICELINE will inform you on a screen after a bidding attempt if the bid was accepted or not. While PRICELINE and HOTWIRE usually offer excellent deals, some markets can be a little tough and if it's a busy period, rates may not be as heavily discounted. Please use the site's Orbitz.com link.
AaronJB Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 If you decide to go with the Expedia.com deal for the Trump, please use the site's Expedia.com link. You can also try coupon code 10NOV ($10 off), but I believe that's only for a 2+ night stay. Thanks.
shell42 Posted January 5, 2010 Author Report Posted January 5, 2010 Sounds great! I think I'll do that....unless you think that the 3.5* for $122/night could be The Chelsea (althought its listed as a 4* on your guide and on Expedia).
AaronJB Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 The 3.5* has not yet been reported to the board/ID'd, but it may be a downgraded Chelsea, as the amenities match and the tripadvisor rating showing on the detail page would be a match.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE, Expedia or Orbitz links.
shell42 Posted January 5, 2010 Author Report Posted January 5, 2010 By "downgraded", do you mean that we would get a crappy room? Or that the rating of the hotel has been downgraded? Sorry for being terribly annoying, but you're being SO very helpful! I appreciate it so much!
AaronJB Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Happy to help. :)Rating of the hotel - it was previously reported as a 4*, but may have been dropped to a 3.5* by the service.
