Carli Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 Hi all, thanks for this site and thanks for the initiatives you are taking.Do you have any bidding strategy in the period 09/09 - 09/14, I know it is far away :-)My desired budget per night is 105$ without tax for a 2,5* upscale located in the downtown area: CPS, MTE, MTW, TS, MSG, ESB, ChelseaThanks!
AaronJB Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding! :)September is generally a rather busy period in NYC and rates are higher. In terms of bidding for a 2.5* for these dates, I'm guessing it will likely require bidding at your max ($105) and unfortunately, based upon the regular rates I'm seeing, that may not be accepted. Have you tried any bids yet? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
Carli Posted January 3, 2010 Author Report Posted January 3, 2010 I tried bids from 85-105$, but had no luck!Is it too early for the period in september?
thereuare Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 As pointed out above September is often an expensive time in NYC and a win around the $100 level may not be enough. If you're able to stretch your budget a bit HOTWIRE has a 3.5* hotel in the MTE zone for $139/nite, and while this isn't too far from your $105 bid for a lesser rated hotel, note on a HOTWIRE search for yoru dates that thsi property is an 'outlyer' in that it is priced about $50-$100 less than all other Manhattan offerings at the 2.5* or higher level for your dates.Of course you have plenty of time between now and your stay, but if you decide to wait, it's also possible that rates don't come down (or go higher) and this $139 property is no longer offered down the road.Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
