Priceline Hotel: NYC from 23rd Jan to Feb 5th... help appreciated!

Hi there,

Flying to NYC on 23rd Jan and leaving on 5th Feb - have not booked a hotel yet - is it worth trying to get a deal through Priceline as me and my other half are staying for 12 days? I get the impression that Priceline works best for shorter stays.

Any other tips/advice on which hotel to go for would be great, am wading through reviews and each time I think I've found a good one someone mentions mould or cockroaches...

Sometimes longer stays in NYC are difficult on PRICELINE, but this is usually during the busy periods (such as the Christmas period.) In busier periods, splitting the stay between two hotels may be an option. Additionally, looking on HOTWIRE is also recommended.

Please let us know desired budget per night, desired star rating and which PRICELINE zones you would be interested in bidding for.

I think PRICELINE (and HOTWIRE) would definately be worth considering as this is typically a slow time in NYC and although i haven't looked as your specific dates yet (as not sure of your budget) you should be able to get a good deal. As this is a longer term stay, you may want to consider SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, although this may not be necessary given the time period.

Your going to find some negative reviews even at some of the best hotels... rooms within the same hotel can vary in quality and upkeep, as well, expectations that guests have differ greatly.

If you let us know your desired star rating and expected budget per nite we'll be in a better position to make more specific advice/recommendations.

Hi, thanks for the welcome and replying, both of you :)

We're arriving on 23rd Jan and actually leaving on the 4th of Feb, not the 5th. Our budget is $125/night, although that's the upper limit. If we can get something good for $95 that would be great. Desired star rating 3-4.
