pinkhouse Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 I am very happy that I was able to get the Hyatt Regency on this bid because the conference I am attending will be held there. The price is a steal compared to the prices that coming earlier. Originally tried for a 4 star hotel with an offer below 50.00 and added the 3 star as I approached the over 50.00 bid price. I used up all of my rebids and then got LOCKED OUT ( duplicate submissions). Started out with a submission for 3 star at $55.00 and it wasn't accepted. They came back with a counter offer to increase the bid by $15.00. I tried to put in $5, then 10 and it would accept it. So, I bidded 16.00 and it was accepted. The very good news is that I got the exact hotel I wanted and a lot cheaper than what I was seeing on all the websites for the same date and hotel. Hotwire had a 3 star for $189 per night then a 2.5 star for 99.00 a night. Final outcome:$71.004nights$284.00+ $53.44=$337.44
thereuare Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Glad you got the hotel you wanted! (and at a great rate!)When you are given a priceline counter-offer they won't let you bid less than that their suggested amount without using a RE-BID ZONE or lowering your star rating. They didn't accept the $5 or $10 raise since it was less than their suggested amount (and i'm assuming you didn't add any zones). Hope this helps a little for any future bids. Thanks for sharing your win and have a great stay (and learn a lot at the conference :) ). Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
