ideafun Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 :) I just made my first successful bid on priceline. You guys rock! Started with 3* downtown miami, May 31st 2003 for one night..Pre cruise stay.. $27 turned down. Did not quite understand the rebid stuff, but I had read that South Beach never goes for under $80 or something, so I added South Beach and bid $38, not $34 because I read a couple of unsuccessful bids or something$38 in the Hyatt. Wow! :o Wow! That like winning the lottery. The standard price on Travelocity is $129 ***$140 on the Hyatt site. Can I say thank you again. If you can, expalin the rebid, are you talking about when they send you the e-mail or doing just what I did. Cause they would not simply let me rebid with a differant price. I had to ad something. Can you say !!! I saved a hundred dollars :) :) :D I so excited. I just love geting a great deal.
thereuare Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Welcome to BetterBidding and congratulations on your BIG win!I assume you read abot re-bidding in this thread: Bidding Again Before 72 hours, but i'll clarify a little further. When you bid for 3* Priceline is looking for hotels that will accept your bid at 3* or higher. So when Priceline rejected you the first time and wanted you to add something, you add a zone that only offers LESS than 3* hotels (in other words, NOTHING HIGHER THAN 2.5*). This allows you to bid again at the 3* level for the two zones, but since one zone only offers hotels that are less than 3* (and therefore can't possibly give you a "win" because there are no 3* or higher hotels in that zone), you're really only bidding the original zone. Were the ultimate taxes and fee paid on your winning screen the same as the taxes and fee shown on your bid screen? Also, just to clarify, your bid was accepted at $38, correct? ideafun Posted May 14, 2003 Author Report Posted May 14, 2003 Yes, my bid was excepted at $38 plus taxes. Total was $47.90 after the taxes. Can not remember what they told me before I bid. Sorry.... Apologize for my excitement, but what a deal.
