hello everybody!

im new to betterbidding and also new to new york.

my girlfriend and me are coming to ny on feb. the 4th 2010 until the 9th of feb.

actually the hotel is not that important. we got the flight for about 260$ from frankfurt, germany which is ridiculous (both ways!). and since we are students we are trying to avoid to much costs. but hey! were going to new york and want to have a good time! so we are looking for a nice hotel which is clean for some kind of romantic days...

i think we will walk around the whole day and will come to the hotel more or less only for sleeping. but what do you think of a bit remote areas which are well accesible by metro?! and should be cheaper then?!

we are arriving at newark airport. but i read that it is quite easy to get downtown.

so i read about someone here who won with 120$ for the hilton times square. this is also a choice for us but cheaper would be better!

sorry for my bad english and i hope you understand what im trying to ask ;-)!

greetings and thanks a lot in advance

Welcome to Betterbidding! :)

There are a number of different choices on HOTWIRE for these dates, although I'm seeing a 3.5* in MTE for $99 w/fitness, business, restaurant and internet icons (which would be a possible match for the Tudor, Roosevelt or Doubletree.)

What would be your max budget per night for hotel?

hey aaron!

im sorry for my late answer! thank you very much for your explanations!

first i tried to book via priceline but then i saw that it is some kind of tricky for non us citizens. so i tried hotwire and chose the 89$ mte and became the best western hospitality house. i found a lot of good ratings about it at holidaycheck for example. so im quite happy with it. i know that thats the most important and i also cannot cancel it anymore. but what do you think about it?

thanks again for your help and greetings from germany!

Congratulations on your success!

Thank you for sharing your results with the board. Can you please confirm the star rating of this property and also add a reply to this thread with the amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.

This hotel is a converted apartment building, so the rooms are HUGE by NYC standards, and also have the added benefit of a small kitchen and refrigerator. It's not luxurious, but if you go with the expecation of 'basic' accomodations, the hotel will likely win you over with the size of the rooms and perks (included breakfast, i believe internet is free as well, etc)

Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.

Enjoy your stay.
