reppin_the_847 Posted December 27, 2009 Report Posted December 27, 2009 I needed a place to crash downtown in the middle of the week as I would be attending a holiday party with open bar this Wednesday night, and I would be needing to catch an early morning 7:30 AM Amtrak train the following morning to Michigan. I didn't want to impose on any of my friends that lived in the city so I did a little tinkering with PRICELINE and landed this excellent 3-star hotel, the Four Points By Sheraton Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile. It is located on Rush Street by the corner of Grand & Rush (very close to the Grand - Red Line CTA subway stop). I believe I had submitted a $40 bid, only to get rejected. I did receive an upsell offer that would be accepted if I was willing to increase my offer by about 12 dollars (grand total of $52). I rejected PRICELINE's upsell offer, and I decided to add a star setting or a part of the region (might've added River North-NMA to the Loop, I'm not sure), and decided to only increase my offer by $6 to a total of $46. To my surprise, I won the bid! The price was $46 + $14.32 in taxes & fees for a grand total of $60.32. Another excellent deal, for an excellent hotel in one of America's biggest cities for a price that is lower than many MOTELS charge upfront. Gotta love PRICELINE's Name Your Own Price!
