DemKR Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 Hi, I am trying to get a very good deal for a hotel near the intl airport in Oranjestad or Palm Beach. However, I'm a little reluctant to bid on Priceline due to the fact that the entire island is included on the bidding area.Has anyone had success bidding on PL for a 2 or 3 star hotel and getting a hotel on the Palm Beach strip in Oranjestad? Is it risky to bid? Did anyone get screwed? Thanks. BTW, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, as I am new to the board. I am still trying to read up but this is an important question and I really needed to ask tonight. Thanks again
AaronJB Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 Welcome to Betterbidding! :)Please post your dates of stay and we will have a look to see what options may be available for your dates. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your travel purchases.
DemKR Posted December 24, 2009 Author Report Posted December 24, 2009 Aaron thank you...My dates of stay will be 4/2/10 to 4/6/10I'm looking for any star really...big bargain hunter here..Be nice to have shuttle service to Beatrix Airport, but only in the Orenjestad/PB area.
thereuare Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 HOTWIRE has what appears to be the Westin for $175/nite... is this within your budget and a 'good enough' deal? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. DemKR Posted December 24, 2009 Author Report Posted December 24, 2009 Even though I do consider that a good deal, it'd be a stretch. I wouldn't mind a 1or 2 star hotel if that price were cut in half - the general consensus is that HOTWIRE does seem to offer more than PRICELINE as far as location narrowing is concerned though...
AaronJB Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 There is also a $142 3* on HOTWIRE, as well. In terms of more reasonably priced properties, the MVC Eagle Beach is on sale for $113 via Orbitz (plus, free breakfast), and coupon code FABSAVE10 takes another 10% off per night. Please use the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or Orbitz.com links to start your purchase.
DemKR Posted December 24, 2009 Author Report Posted December 24, 2009 I seem to have found a "Palm Beach" if I search for Oranjestad instead of "Aruba" on Priceline. Choices are 4*, 3 1/2*, and 3*. What would you suggest bidding to get the 3 stars?
thereuare Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 What is your maximum bid for a 3* hotel in this zone? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. DemKR Posted December 24, 2009 Author Report Posted December 24, 2009 I want to shoot for $60-70. I know that's probably unrealistically low(especially around Spring Break)...so anything that comes close to that would work .I got denied today for $45-50. I've got plenty of time for the trip to continue retrying...Even if a 2 opens up I would go for it too
thereuare Posted December 25, 2009 Report Posted December 25, 2009 I think $60-$70 is going to be tough for this time of year, but as you have time i'd increase your bids by $5 every 24 hours until you reach your maximum bid. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
