CLE Mom Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 I have used Priceline many times and usually get great rates with minimal issues. Not sure what I did this time. I used the betterbidding link to bid on 2 4* rooms in Atlantic City Area starting at $55. Both rooms were in my sons name. Instead of getting the usu. rebid screen I received the message below:"Thank You for Naming Your Own Price
thereuare Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Just as the "typical" rejected bid screen, it only means that there are no hotel rooms at the bid price you offered... you followed correct procedure by closing the browser, re-accessing PRICELINE (with out links, thanks!!), and resuming your bidding with re-bid zones just as you would have if given the 'usual' re-bid screen. As there were no rooms available at your bid price, and PRICELINE knows you need a room in this area for these dates, they're cross-marketing by offering you a 'retail' option.I wouldn't read into this screen too much, as we've seen it before, and my advice is to simply proceed exactly as you had.How high are you willing to bid for a 4* hotel for this stay? Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for your bidding.Keep us updated as to your progress or if we can be of further help. CLE Mom Posted December 23, 2009 Author Report Posted December 23, 2009 I was hoping to stay under $80/room/nite. I was hoping to stay in the Boardwalk area ( I know there is no guarantee) What is reasonable for this time of year?Rooms are a birthday present for my son. I have gone through rebids for 4* up to $80 per room and 31/2* up to $70 before running out of rebids. I see Friday night rates are pretty low, Saturdays are jacked up.
AaronJB Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 Harrah's is one of the PRICELINE 4* possibilities when bidding for 4* in the Atlantic City Area zone of AC. That's on sale for $95 for your dates, and coupon code WELCOME10 takes 10% off = $85 and change, which is only a few dollars above what you've bid. Please use the site's Orbitz.com link if this idea is of interest.
CLE Mom Posted December 24, 2009 Author Report Posted December 24, 2009 I did try rebidding 3 1/2* up to $87/night without success.I decided to book Harrah's through Orbitz using the Welcome10 discount. Thanks for the suggestion. My son is very happy with his birthday present!
