eendler Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Hi, I've been bidding for days to get a NYC 4* Hotel in (MTW, MTE, CPS, TS). I've already bid up to $122 for all these areas without success. Is it to soon to bid and get a good deal? Should I wait a little? Are there any event scheduled for March in NYC?Any tip? This is my first time using PRICELINE. I've been trying to get a hotel in Toronto from 03/08/10 to 03/13/10 but the prices are too high compared to betterbidding posts. Thanks.
thereuare Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! It's not uncommon for it to take more than $125 for a 4* hotel in NYC, and often a longer stay (such as this one) can be a little more difficult than shorter trips. It is still early so i wouldn't feel any 'pressure' to compromise at this point in time, but it will likely take a little more than you're currently bidding for a 4* hotel OR you may be able to have success for part of your stay within your current bidding parameters if you're willing to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID.What is your maximum bid for a 4* hotel for this leg of your trip? eendler Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 Thanks for the advice. I'll keep bidding every day for a month before start an agressive strategy like BID SPLITTING. My budget is $150 including taxes. In NYC, Are there differences between rates during business days and during weekends? Does it matter? I think i should consider it for future splitting strategy.
thereuare Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Generally speaking weekends are a little cheaper less expensive (as nothing is actually cheap in NYC) since during the week it's business travellers and tourists... on the weekends it's mostly tourists. However, NYC is very subject to seasonality factors, with Fall and Spring being much more expensive than Summer and Winter.Keep us updated and let us know if we can be of further help along the way. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. eendler Posted December 28, 2009 Author Report Posted December 28, 2009 Doesn't priceline apply an average price for long stays? The PRICELINE BID SPLITTING thread says it doesnt. It sounds strange because priceline should give us the best deal.
AaronJB Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 Based on the rates I'm seeing (such as HOTWIRE, where 4*'s are generally $169-179) for these dates, I would guess that a 4* bid may take around $135, or possibly slightly higher.Thank you for using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links.

eendler Posted December 30, 2009 Author Report Posted December 30, 2009 Sorry! Now I read the message.I changed my mind and decided to use the Orbitz link (from the other PRICELINE NYC) thread to book The Tudor. The average cost was 101 USD plus tax. I think it was a good deal.I always used PRICELINE link to bid. Thank you.
AaronJB Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Thanks for the follow-up. Enjoy your stay.
