Joe Pinto Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 have had problems with price line bids on 4* in Key west. no matter what I bid I never win. I looked on the Hyatt sight and their are no bookings for the hotel. what can I do?
thereuare Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Key West is notoriously a tough PRICELINE bidding zone. When you say there are "no bookings" at the Hyatt site, do you mean the hotel is sold-out and there is no availability? How high have you bid via PRICELINE?Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Joe Pinto Posted December 23, 2009 Author Report Posted December 23, 2009 I went on the hyatt sight, it said no availablity for that date at full price, I assumed it was booked. I bid uo to $130.00 as I say other bidders that won at $119
thereuare Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Rates are date specific, and while we have seen hotels won when the hotel's website was showing a sold-out condition, this is more the exception to the rule. With this property sold-out, and other Hyatt properties in the area showing rates in the $400's, it appears that these are high demand dates and you may not be able to replicate sombody elses winning bid (at a time when rates may have been lower for their own stay)What is the best rate you're able to find at a suitable hotel for this stay? What is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Joe Pinto Posted December 24, 2009 Author Report Posted December 24, 2009 First of all I would like to thank you for your help!I went to HOTWIRE and they were offering $365.00 for a 4*. as mentioned I offered $135.00 yesterday any bidding suggestions?
AaronJB Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 Prices for these dates are quite high - 4*'s on Orbitz are $300-400+ across the board. Given those rates, I think a successful 4* bid - if there is any PRICELINE inventory - unfortunately is probably going to run significantly higher than what you have bid to this point. What would be your maximum budget per night?
Joe Pinto Posted December 26, 2009 Author Report Posted December 26, 2009 Just tried $150.00 per night for 4* no luck. are you saying that the lowest price based on price hotwire is $300.00?
AaronJB Posted December 26, 2009 Report Posted December 26, 2009 I'm now seeing a 4* on HOTWIRE in Key West for these dates for $257.Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links.
Joe Pinto Posted December 27, 2009 Author Report Posted December 27, 2009 ended up bidding $250.00 as most other places were getting booked up for 2 nights in a row i wanted. won bid for 4* Casa Marina Resort - The Waldorf Astoria Collection. was hoping for hyatt but I am sure this will be ok . found lowest price on line $275 I called the hotel and they were going to give me a room facing the street, but they were kind enough to switc it out for me and provide a water view in same price catagory.thanks for all your help!
AaronJB Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 Congrats on your success! :)Glad to hear that the hotel was willing to work with you on getting a water view. Can you confirm that this was a 4* win? It has previously been reported at the resort level.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using the site's PRICELINE link to start your purchase.Enjoy your stay.
thereuare Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 I believe this property is still rated at the "Resort" category via PRICELINE and have edited the topic title accordingly, but hopefully the OP will report back and confirm (Joe Pinto you can confirm the star rating and if you were upgraded on your 4* bid by looking at your winning bid confirmation page... does it state something to the effect of "we found a hotel to accept your bid and have upgraded your bid to a Resort class hotel...")Thanks!
