nature1026 Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 I'd like to stay in 2* or higher hotel in NYC in any of the these area: Soho, Chelsea, Wall Street, Midtown (pretty much anywhere Inside the river)The thing is Im trying to stay with 3 buddies (4 in total) and price line only gaurantees a room for 2 people which doesn't quite suit my need.(I don't want to have my credit card paid not knowing if I could bring additional guest and not knowing how much it costs)I tried HotWire too but then I don't know again if this is really for 4 people accomodation. (even though I included 4 number of guests)The trip will be from Dec 27 to Dec 30 (3 nights) and my budget is $200/night USD including everything (service, tax...)Is there any strategy I could use on priceline or hotwire? If it's really hard to book a room for 4 people (2 double + one sofa or 2 queens), should i just try finding two rooms each for $100/night?(which end up as well $150 for each person)thank you in advance!
thereuare Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! As you point out, PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, so using it for quad occupancy in NYC is a risk. This risk may be acceptable in other areas such as Orlando where hotels are used to, and built for, family travel and have a large number of rooms with two beds, but it's usually not recommended in NYC where space is at a premium and many hotels have a large percentage of rooms with only one bed (and no space for a rollaway)HOTWIRE is an option if you search for quad occupancy, as this will ensure sleeping accomodations for everyone you include in your search (although this could ultimately be one bed + pullout sofabed, assuming that would work for your plans)However, your budget is going to be tough, as searching HOTWIRE for quad occuapncy doesn't show anything within Manhattan at $200 'all-in'... closest option is a 3* hotel Downtown for $202/nite (plus taxes/fees)You could try for two rooms via PRICELINE, but i would put your chances at scoring something for under $100 faily low.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
nature1026 Posted December 21, 2009 Author Report Posted December 21, 2009 Thank you so much for your kind advise!I'll keep that in mind and look forward in HOTWIRE..Thanks again!
AaronJB Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 Orbitz has the brand-new 4* Club Quarters World Trade Center for $221 for a suite. If you use coupon code WELCOME10, that takes 10% off = $198 and change. While that would be right at your max, it would be a larger room and a fresh new hotel. The service notes only a few rooms left at that price. Please use the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or Orbitz.com links.
