russjones Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 For dates 1/20 - 1/24. I placed some bids for 4* and 5* in NYC MTW, UM-CPS, MTE, UES, UWS. The bids ranged from 100-115. No luck in that range. In looking at some of the more recent posts there is not too much on 3* hotels. Any thoughts on what price to start bidding for these areas? Thanks in advance for your help.
thereuare Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 Was $115 your max for a 4*?What is your maximum for a 3*? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
russjones Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 Around $100 a night is what I was hoping for. I went a little higher than that at the hopes of a 4*. I just want a decent room for 4 nights. If I have to pay around 90-100 for a 3 star then I will give that a try. I'm just not sure what the best strategy is for starting out.

russjones Posted January 7, 2005 Author Report Posted January 7, 2005 Thanks for the great strategy. Here were my results:Did these two steps:Select 3*: MTW bid $75, if rejeced close broswer and re-access Priceline however you did previously.MTW rejectedUM bid $75, if rejeced close broswer and re-access Priceline however you did previously. After the UM bid I got the message that if I added $22 I could resend the same bid. These two areas were our top choice for location so I closed the browser and placed the following bid:MTW and UM $85 and price was accepted:Park Central New York 3* - 1/20-1/24, jst under $400 after taxes and fees for the 4 nights.Reviews are mixed on the hotel, hopefully it will be a good experience. Thanks for your help. I can post these results on a separate string if necessary.
