Hotwire Hotel: Planning May 2005 Trip

We have never bid before and wanted to try it out for this trip (May 8-12 which is Su-Th) in order to try and get into Venetian (or Bellagio if we use Hotwire). Since we have never bid before, any help/tips would be greatly appreciated. We have no idea what is even a reasonable bid per night

Is now too early to try it or should we wait until closer to our trip dates?

What is a reasonable bid amount for a Su-Th in May? I am mentally thinking anything below $125/night would be very good but much above that and it is too much since we can get MGM for about $600 total for that timeframe.

Can we bid for more than one room at a time since we need 2? Are we more or less likely to get the amount of our bid based on number of rooms?

TIA

Welcome to BetterBidding!

You can bid on up to 4 rooms at the same time.

Since the Venetian (or any other 5* rated hotel) is much better than the MGM, i would think that you should be willing to go up to at least the amount of your MGM reservation (and perhaps a little more due to the higher rating) (unless you mean that the MGM is $600 for the 4 nites for both rooms... but a quick look at the MGM's website i don't think that is the case)

I don't believe that $125 will currently be enough for this stay, but you can certainly try if you'd like (and rates may come down as you get closer to check-in).

Since you're new to Priceline, i would first read PRICELINE RE-BIDDING EXPLAINED and make sure you understand re-bidding. Feel free to ask any questions you have regarding the prior link; if you have no questions let us know and we'll suggest a bidding strategy based upon your maximum bid, but as i mentioned above i'd consider raising your maximum bid to at least the amount of your MGM reservation.... a better hotel for the same price is always a good swap. :)
