Hello,

First of all, is my first time doing this, I've never heard about name your own price. I've read some information but I still without knowledge for a bid. English is my second language, so I apologize in advance.

I want to book a one way ticket, from SEA(Seattle,WA) To POA (Porto Alegre, BR) on 03/15/09. The cheap price is $ 764 ( with fees) but at most airlines is $853 or so. I don't care about schedule, stops/connections or others.... I just want the lowest price possible! I want to bid as soon as possible.

May you help me with all advices you can give, please? What price should I bid?

I appreciate your help and this website is awesome, congrats!

You can't bid on a one way ticket with PRICELINE, so the only way this would work for you is if you were able to get a 50% discount on a roundtrip ticket and not use the return portion. You can certainly try, but i'm doubtful you would be able to get more than half off of this route, as airfare savings just haven't been that much as of late.

Hello,

Thank you so much for your answer!

I tried to bid as you told me, round trip. I tried 4 times!

The price to this trip is around 990, I'm ok paying 650 but I didn't make it, They didn't accept my bid of this amount The message was: Airline availability and pricing is constantly changing and we were unable to book the flights you requested.

Please select an alternative option from the itineraries below. Prices are per ticket including all taxes and fees.

What do you think? Should I keep trying or should I ignore it! If you think I can get something around 700, should I raise it with small amounts as 10 -20.. or not?

Can I bid as much as I want? I notice that everybody talk about options and I didn't have any choice as stops, no paper ticket and more, is somethings wrong or its normal?

Thank you again,

I appreciate a lot your help!

You can try increasing your bids a little more, but as noted above, deals on airfare are far and few between lately... but doesn't mean you shouldn't try :)

I assume the 'alternate itinerary options' presented are basically retail rates which are similar to most other websites.

With PRICELINE you're not giving the option of stops as you agree to at least one stopover (then if your bid will only be accepted with an additional stopover you're given the option). You can bid as high as you'd like, but obviously you want to keep your 'all-in' price less than the best deal you're able to get thru other booking channels. As well, keep in mind you can't choose your flight schedule, layover length, layover city, etc, so usually you want at least a 'decent' discount to a conventional booking where you have the ability to pick the most convenient routing.

Please use the requested PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your future bidding and travel purchases.
