Agoust Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 I'm running in the Pittsburgh Marathon on 2 May. My past experience has been that's an especially full weekend in Pittsburgh. Am I too early to get bidding? I'd like to stay downtown, 3-4 stars, no higher than $125/night. Any help would be appreciated. I've not made any bids yet. Thanks for your help!
thereuare Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 Given the Marathon i don't think it's too early to begin your bidding. Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. 3.5* vs. 3* OR are you looking for the least expensive 3* or better for this stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Agoust Posted December 10, 2009 Author Report Posted December 10, 2009 Least expensive 3* or better. Many thanks for your help!
AaronJB Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 HOTWIRE actually has no availability in the downtown Pittsburgh zone for these dates, although there is regular rate availability (Hilton Pittsburgh for $119 on Orbitz, plus coupon code FABSAVE10 gets an extra 10% off.)Thank you for using the site's PRICELINE, Orbitz.com or HOTWIRE links.
thereuare Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 Agoust,Does the Orbitz deal work well for your needs, or do you still want to try bidding on PRICELINE? If the latter, did you want to lower your maximum bid? (given the no HOTWIRE availability in this zone this Orbitz deal does look quite attractive, but i don't know where it is relative to the start/finish line and how it will work well for your plans)Let us know and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Agoust Posted May 12, 2010 Author Report Posted May 12, 2010 I waited for a few others to firm-up plans and by the time we were all on board the Hilton was full too. We ended up staying at the Four Points Sheraton out by the airport--$40/night. Significantly less than we'd intended to spend, but certainly not the most interesting of locations.l It's about a 25 minute ride into the city; 55 minutes in rush hour on a Friday. Thanks to the board!
thereuare Posted May 13, 2010 Report Posted May 13, 2010 At that rate i presume you booked via PRICELINE (as opposed to directly with the hotel?)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Hope enjoyed your stay... as well as a primanti brothers sandwich! :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Agoust Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 Sorry! Yes, thru priceline and I used the board's PRICELINE link.
thereuare Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Thanks for the follow-up! Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
