Hotwire Hotel: 4.5* Chicago Magnificent Mile - Streeterville hotel

Do you think 4.5* Chicago Magnificent Mile - Streeterville hotel would be Intercontinental?

The amenities are fitness, restaurant, business and internet.

This is my first visit to Chicago - Is Maginificent Mile a better location for hotel than North Michigan Avenue to do just sightsee and visit great eateries?

When we got Intercontinental through HOTWIRE, there was also a pool listed with the amenities. North Michigan Avenue includes some very nice hotels, including the Drake, which we thought was wonderful. Swissotel is my favorite, right at the base of the Magnificent Mile. We didn't like the Intercontinental. The room was unsatisfactory, and they pointed out several times that as a Hotwire customer, there was nothing they could do to improve the situation, unless we wanted an "upgrade" for $50 more per night.
